WWE Night of Champions 2011: 5 Reasons Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton Will Stink

Daniel MasseyJun 3, 2018

Hello, folks, and welcome to my second piece regarding the upcoming pay-per-view on September 18th.

This time I will be looking at why the proposed match—Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry—will not be very good, and may even ruin the pay-per-view.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the push Mark Henry is getting, I believe he has really come out of his shell and made some fantastic television over the past few months.

However, I think this may all come to an end at Night of Champions due to this title match that, admittedly, is not set in stone yet.

So, without further ado, sit back, relax and enjoy the read!

Pace

1 of 6

The first thing that I think will ruin the match is the pace of it. Mark Henry is a big fella, so there won’t be any high-flying or any catch as catch can wrestling, and I wouldn’t expect it.

However, I have a feeling it will be slow beyond compare. I really think that it will bore the crowd who will want a bit more explosive action.

This match needs to go outside the ring and be made a no disqualification match for it to be entertaining.

When Mark Henry faced Sheamus, the pace matched the wrestlers, which leads me onto my next point...

A Clash of Styles

2 of 6

Mark Henry and Randy Orton have two completely different styles, and though I’m not saying that it is because of this it will fail, I’m saying it will be a factor.

I know Randy Orton is one of the best in the game, but I can’t see how a match with him and Mark Henry will work.

Orton can’t really brawl anymore, and when he knocks someone down, he likes to do his little ballet dance routine—which is really irritating, I might add.

Not only will his pirouette embarrass Mark Henry after the rampage he has been on, but it will ruin the match.

Henry needs to dominate the entire match for this clash of styles to work because Orton dancing everywhere will look stupid, and the powerslam is out of bounds.

It Will Last Too Long

3 of 6

This being a main event match, it will be expected to last at least 12 minutes if not more. I think I would be quite bored watching them for this long.

On the other hand, it is a fresh contest—one of which we have not seen before, so it may be intriguing.

Nevertheless, giving the match too long could create boredom due to the previous points I have just mentioned.

As much as I hope it doesn’t, I just have the feeling that this match will make me fall asleep.

Christian or Sheamus Are Likely to Get Involved

An interference would ruin the match as it happens all too often nowadays.

I pray for a clean finish, but I believe one of these superstars will interfere if not both, and it will create a Fatal 4-Way Hell in a Cell match at Hell in a Cell 2011...or am I getting a bit ahead of myself there?

Orton Will Win

5 of 6

Why would I be excited for a match I already know the outcome of?

There is no way Orton is losing that title to Henry; he probably thought it was bad enough that he had to lose it to Christian, despite not losing cleanly.

Pfft, poster-boy.

So there you have it, folks! Five reasons I think this match will be the worst PPV match in months.

However, I would love to be proved wrong, and I’m sure there are tons of reasons why it won’t.

Please leave a comment detailing whether you agree or disagree with my apprehensions for this match.

I always try and reply to all comments.
