Sam Stout Withdraws from UFC 137 Fight Against Denis Siver
Lightweight fighter Sam Stout has reportedly withdrawn from his fight vs. Denis Siver, which was scheduled for October 29th at UFC 137.
A report today by MMAJunkie.com stated that a source close to Stout has confirmed the news.
Stout, a London, Ontario native and Adrenaline Training Center owner and fighter suffered a devastating loss earlier this month with the death of his brother-in-law and long-time trainer, Shawn Tompkins. The reason for Stout's withdrawal was not immediately clear; it is unknown if physical injury has played a part or not in Stout's decision.
Tompkins' influence over Stout's career has been long-standing and vital; most apparent in Stout's last knockout win over Yves Edwards at UFC 131 in Vancouver this past June.
Stout knocked Edwards out in devastating fashion with a counter left hand and credited his coach for spotting that hole in Edwards' game, training it relentlessly with him leading up to the fight.
The 27-year-old veteran fighter is a fan favorite for his crowd-pleasing style, which has seen him take home four fight-night bonuses and three-consecutive "Fight of the Night" awards.
A replacement has not yet been announced.
Siver is currently 8-1 in his past nine fights and is coming off a strong win against Matt Wiman at UFC 132 in July.
