Dallas Cowboys: Felix Jones, Dez Bryant and 5 Standouts from Preseason Week 3
The Dallas Cowboys looked impressive in their 23-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
In what will probably be the last preseason action for the starters, the first unit looked pretty sharp.
Tony Romo, Felix Jones and company put up 10 points in the first half, while the first-team defense added a touchdown off a blocked field goal.
There are still some things to work on during practice, but the team seems to be clicking under Jason Garrett.
They are definitely going to improve on 2010's 6-10 record and should make a strong push for the playoffs.
For now, though, let's take a look at five standouts from the third week of the preseason.
5. Tony Romo, QB
1 of 5Tony Romo didn't throw for any touchdowns on Saturday night, but he still looked sharp.
He went 15-for-20 for 141 yards, and didn't throw any interceptions.
The 75 percent completion rate is very good, and the 141 yards would translate into 282 yards for a full game, which isn't a bad total.
With Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten at his disposal, Romo should have a big year.
4. Gerald Sensabaugh, S
2 of 5I've been one of Gerald Sensabaugh's biggest critics recently, but even I'll admit he had a good performance on Saturday.
He had a diving interception to stop a Minnesota drive, and also blocked a field goal that Alan Ball returned for a touchdown.
Rob Ryan better hope that's the Sensabaugh that shows up during the regular season.
3. Anthony Spencer/Victor Butler, OLBs
3 of 5Anthony Spencer finally showed some promise in the pass rush game on Saturday night.
But for every stride he made, Victor Butler was right there with him.
Both of them had a sack, and Butler had another hit on the QB.
If Spencer can keep playing this way, the Cowboys will have the good problem of two starter-caliber OLBs to play alongside DeMarcus Ware.
2. Dez Bryant, WR
4 of 5Dez Bryant led the Cowboys with five catches for 67 yards on Saturday night.
Get used to him leading the team in those categories.
He looks fully recovered from a foot injury he suffered last year that cut his rookie season short.
He's going to put up more than 1,000 receiving yards in 2011.
1. Felix Jones, RB
5 of 5Jones only had five carries for 20 yards, but he managed to find the end zone in the second quarter.
He also added three catches for 18 yards.
He's looking strong and healthy this preseason and could be the surprise running back of the year.
He's looking like a 1,000-yard back. It remains to be seen how much the Cowboys will use him around the goal line, though.
