UFC 134 Results: 4 Fights Brendan Schaub Should Take to Rebound
So maybe Schaub tried to do too much too soon.
Brendan Schaub (8-2) called out Minotauro Nogueira and wanted to fight in Nogueira's home country, and boy did Minotauro answer the call.
The first round started off going back and forth, until Minotauro was able to knock Schaub out and put him down face first on the canvas.
Schaub could still be a top heavyweight prospect, but for the time being, here's four fights that he could take to rebound and get back to his winning ways.
Dave Herman/ Mike Russow Winner
1 of 5If this scenario were to pan out, I'd be pulling for a Schaub-Herman match all day.
Dave Herman is one of the brightest prospects in the heavyweight division and Mike Russow is a veteran of the sport, who has been around for twelve years.
Should Schaub fight Herman, it would be a matchup of great young strikers, or should he face Russow, he will be able to add another veteran name to his resume.
Matt Mitrione/ Cheick Kongo Winner
2 of 5This is another fight that would be a stand up battle no matter who comes out on top.
Matt Mitrione, a cast-mate on The Ultimate Fighter season 10 and Cheick Kongo are set to do battle at UFC 137, and the winner makes an interesting matchup for Schaub all around.
Schaub would continue to show his great standup against a fellow prospect, or against another veteran who's been around for what seems like forever.
Pat Barry/ Stefan Struve Winner
3 of 5The heavyweight division is full of potential striker vs. striker matchups for Schaub.
Another fight where Schaub would be taking on a dangerous striker would be the winner of Pat Barry and Stefan Struve. Barry and Struve are set to fight at UFC Live 6 on October 1.
This fight would be electric, and it would definitely end in a brutal knockout.
Roy Nelson
4 of 5The rematch that I have been hoping for—for almost two years—could finally happen.
If Nelson defeats Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 137 that is...
I have wanted to see Schaub take on Nelson one more time and get a chance to erase his first career defeat.
Nobody can be sure how this fight would go, but Nelson would be sure to want to prove that the first time was no fluke.
