WWE Smackdown! Recap: 10 Biggest Moments of Friday Night
WWE Smackdown! was rather entertaining, Friday night. It had big-name returns, huge match updates and spectacular matches.
Smackdown! is always disappointing when compared to Monday Night RAW, but this particular episode was better than usual.
Let's take a look at the 10 biggest moments from Friday night's Smackdown!
10: Booker T
1 of 10I do not know whose idea it was to make Booker T a commentator, but that person is a genius.
WWE finally has its own version of Shannon Sharpe commentating. Booker T just comes out with hilarity again and again, and it never gets old.
This night was no different. Booker had us laughing from the start with his ridiculous lines and silly voice.
In all seriousness, Booker T adds a sense of fun that WWE commentating had been lacking. He makes the show more fun and more entertaining.
9: Wade Barrett Promotes Himself Well
2 of 10Wade Barrett came out to the ring to face a local wrestler. That is an insulting job for any WWE superstar, and Wade Barrett was insulted.
Barrett let everyone know how just how insulted he was by the contest.
He then explained how he is responsible for people disliking John Cena. He claims to have shaken up the WWE.
Overall, it was a decent promo, but WWE could do bigger things with Barrett.
8: Ezekial Jackson vs. the Great Khali
3 of 10Ezekial Jackson versus the Great Khali was what anyone would expect. It was a boring match, as is any match with Khali, but Jackon's strength was a good enough reason to watch the match.
Ezekial Jackson broke out of the vice grip and got Khali in the torture rack. It was very cool and very impressive.
Winner: Ezekial Jackson
7: Sin Cara vs. Heath Slater
4 of 10Sin Cara versus Heath Slater was a fun match to watch, as is any match with Sin Cara.
Sin Cara showed off his athletic ability and ridiculous moves. While it was a fun match, there is no real storyline here.
Next week will be more exciting for Sin Cara, simply because he will be going one-on-one with WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio in what should be a very interesting contest.
Winner: Sin Cara
6: Christian vs. Daniel Bryan
5 of 10Christian versus Daniel Bryan was, without a doubt, the best match of the night. It was what anyone would expect out of the two. Whenever you put two guys who actually know how to put on a show together, it is going to be good. Especially when they can both wrestle.
Christian hit Daniel Bryan with the Killswitch and the one-two-three.
Winner: Christian
5: Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase
6 of 10Randy Orton versus Ted DiBiase was another good match. The two have very good chemistry together and did a lot of nice work.
Cody Rhodes added a lot of good entertainment throughout the match as well with his antics. He was very disappointed in DiBiase for losing. He attacked him after the match and put a paper bag over his head.
Winner: Randy Orton
4: Mark Henry vs. Sheamus
7 of 10Sheamus versus Mark Henry was not as good as Christian versus Daniel Bryan or Randy Orton versus Ted DiBiase, but it includes the best storyline.
While their matches are sluggish, mainly because of Henry, they are certainly entertaining. This one was no different.
Sheamus won by countout after he smashed Mark Henry through the announce table. But Mark Henry had the last laugh when he hit Sheamus with the World's Strongest Slam onto the steel steps.
Winner: Sheamus
3: Bret Hart as Guest GM
8 of 10The show kicked off with Bret Hart coming out as Smackdown's general manager for the night. The Hitman alerted everyone that Teddy Long is not in the house, and that he was in charge.
Anytime a legend like Bret Hart comes out for the evening, it is big news. The Hitman's return definitely brought in some ratings that Smackdown! has been desperate for.
Hopefully this was not a one-time appearance. We would all like to see Bret Hart every week, no matter how old he is.
2: Title Match Change
9 of 10Mark Henry won a match last week that made him the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Henry would then fight Randy Orton for the title at next week's Super Smackdown live event.
That has changed.
Christian came out and interrupted Bret Hart. He then demanded that his rematch clause be used. Because it was in his contract, the Hitman had to give Christian his rematch.
But Bret had something up his sleeve.
Christian got his rematch, but Bret Hart made it a steel cage match.
Christian versus Randy Orton in a steel cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship will take place at next week's Super Smackdown!
1: Mark Henry Still Gets His Title Match
10 of 10During the evening, Randy Orton cut a promo and said, "How many times do I have to beat Christian?"
Believe me Randy, we're all wondering the same thing.
While Christian versus Orton has been a great rivalry, it is time for a change. After their match on Smackdown next week, Mark Henry is next in line for his title shot.
After a long, long time in WWE, Mark Henry finally is getting his time to shine. We are not exactly sure when, but he will get his title match after next week's Super Smackdown. Probably at Night of Champions.
