Jarvis Jenkins: Why Redskins Need to Re-Sign Phillip Daniels After Loss of DT
The news that Washington Redskins defensive lineman and second-round draft pick Jarvis Jenkins tore his ACL last night likely means he is done for the season.
The Redskins were looking to Jenkins to play a part this year and hopefully make an impression on what looks like a strong improvement over last season's group.
Gone is Albert Haynesworth's laziness while the arrival of Stephen Bowen and Barry Cofield looks like it's revitalizing the area with both talent and effort.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While nobody wants to see Haynesworth back in Washington, there is another defensive lineman that fans might want to see back in the burgundy and gold.
Phillip Daniels may be 38 years of age at this stage but he was an effective starter up until the season before last when he still contributed to the Redskins rotation.
Despite being released from the team earlier this calender year, the veteran left on good terms with management so there would be no issues in returning.
Playing in a reduced role last season he was still an effective piece of Jim Haslett's defense. He recorded two sacks from a position where sacks are hard to come by and had 21 tackles despite only starting one game.
He would bring a veteran presence to the position and considering it is so close to the start of the season he would benefit drastically over any other potential addition as he already knows the system. Daniels has yet to signal any intent towards retiring so he would seemingly be willing to return.
The loss of Jarvis Jenkins will undoubtedly be felt but bringing in Phillip Daniels in an even further reduced role than he played last season, or even the same role, would give the team quality depth at a time when quality depth is difficult to come by.
