“Rey Mysterio: The Life of a Masked Man” and the Top 10 WWE Videos Ever

Daniel MasseyJun 4, 2018

Hey folks!

There is a lot of history when it comes to the WWE.

Superstars, matches and other promotions that the WWE has managed to conquer.

The good news for the wrestling fans around the world is that the WWE shares the greatest moments in history with us on DVD sets.

I have seen a small selection of what the WWE has to offer in terms of these collections and I have compiled a list of which DVDs I think are the best the WWE has to offer.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the read!

10. Wrestling’s Highest Flyers

1 of 11

If you like high flyers, then this DVD will be right up your street.

This DVD brings matches from all the best high flyers in the business, the only problem being, that they aren’t the best matches they could have chosen.

Despite this, a DVD showing wrestlers of past and present defy gravity is definitely worth a look.

9. Rey Mysterio: The Life of a Masked Man

2 of 11

This is the third DVD regarding Rey Mysterio.

With his career reaching the end, this is potentially a fitting tribute to the whole career of Rey Mysterio.

This gives a good overview of the beginning of his career in the US, but there are too few matches on the DVD from ECW and WCW.

The DVD features mostly WWE matches, the majority occurring during the last six years.

Though it would be good if you are a fan of Rey Mysterio as it features some of his best matches, don’t expect a fair representation of the famous masked Mexican.

8. The Greatest Superstars of WrestleMania

3 of 11

This DVD covers the greatest superstars of WrestleMania as the title suggests, but it also includes their best matches from WrestleMania which is what makes this DVD quite good.

A brief history is given about the superstar, followed by their match that defined them as one of the  greatest superstars of WrestleMania.

7. The Most Powerful Families in Wrestling

4 of 11

This DVD offers a brief look at the families of wrestling, but don’t expect a detailed analysis of each.

If you need to hone your knowledge on the family ties that exist within the business, then this is a decent DVD and it is not exactly a boring watch.

6. The Monday Night War

5 of 11

This DVD gives an inside look at one of the most important events in wrestling history—the Monday Night Wars.

Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff faced off in the 1990s for a complete monopoly over the wrestling world.

This set runs over the history of these wars, detailing from start to finish, the events within that caused some of the best wrestling ever.

This is an important DVD to own if one is to educate themselves about the history of wrestling.

5. The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling

6 of 11

As you will notice throughout this slideshow, I love documentaries regarding old wrestling promotions.

This one is no exception.

World Class Championship wrestling was a small promotion based in Texas, and this DVD covers the rise and demise of the popular promotion.

4. The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA

7 of 11

This DVD covers the entire history of the AWA in an excellent two-hour documentary.

Combined with old footage, in really good quality, this documentary is a must-have to expand one’s wrestling knowledge.

Many legends started in this company and it was extremely successful.

Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels are featured, and this insight into how wrestling was in the Midwest is a really interesting watch.

3. Wrestling with Shadows

8 of 11

If you like an inside look at the workings of a wrestling organization, and how it affects the superstars, then this is the DVD for you.

It features the aftermath of the famous Montreal Screwjob.

It gives a deep insight into Bret Hart’s career and the tension is felt at the end of the film when Bret screws Bret.

2. The Rise and Fall of WCW

9 of 11

This is the second best documentary I have ever seen from WWE.

It really does give a real insight into the inner workings of WCW.

They don’t hold anything back, informing the viewer of the backstage workings of the company.

The interviews are excellently interspersed with archive footage of the company, making the documentary fly-by.

I truly recommend giving this a watch.

It is great for people who were aware of WCW, and those who don’t have a clue what the company was about.

It is a gripping DVD and would be an excellent addition to any wrestling collection.

1. The Rise and Fall of ECW

10 of 11

This is without a doubt the best WWE Video ever.

Coming from the same series as the Rise and Fall of WCW, this documentary covers the whole of the extreme wrestling promotion from start to finish.

The interviews with Paul Heyman are the highlights of this DVD, as he comes across as an extremely likeable person as the viewer gets an inside look at the size of his heart, and the dedication he had (and still has) to the business.

The interviews from the superstars also give an inside look as they don’t hold any punches when it comes to the shortcomings of the promotion.

If you don’t buy any other documentary, buy this one—you won’t regret it.
