Kevin Durant, John Wall Video: Watch 10 Sizzling Summer League Slams and Shots
Forget the NBA; the summer league is producing more highlights per week than professional basketball would. It could be the whole "zero defense" policy that the vast majority of these games feature, but still. A new must-see play is uploaded on YouTube every other day and the latest video comes from Hoop Mixtape, not just a play, but the top 10 of the week:
No. 10: I would love to learn how to do that on NBA 2K. A normal breakaway slam? Please, Kevin Durant has had hundreds of those this summer; it gets monotonous after a while.
No. 9: Kasey Hill is rated by ESPN as a five-star recruit in the class of 2013…so he’s like 17 years old. Hill is a point guard and he’s getting recruited by Kentucky. Just connecting the dots: next John Calipari product?
No. 8: This dunk should’ve been higher in the rankings because a defender actually tried to stop him at the rim. Winston Shepard is a 6’8” wing out of Texas. According to ESPN, he’s a four-star caliber prospect and he has an offer from San Diego State.
No. 7: Maybe Kenneth Faried is being compared to Dennis Rodman for more than his rebounding ability. He showed a little crazy side screaming in the helpless defender's face. The Denver Nuggets got lucky having Faried fall to No. 22.
No. 6: Throwing a teammate an alley-oop is overrated. John Wall is a point guard, but he’d understandably rather throw down alley-oops instead. Something tells me that second oop didn’t happen this past week.
No. 5: Durantula with yet another dunk. Back in 2005, Chad Ochocinco made a list of all the cornerbacks that covered him that season. Durant should start making a list of all the courts he’s dunked on this summer.
No. 4: If you haven’t heard of Andre Drummond, set up an appointment with an ear doctor. Drummond is ESPN’s No. 2 prospect of the 2012 recruiting class. He will without a doubt be one-and-done wherever he goes and it's easy to see why.
No. 3: I can’t tell what’s more awesome, Donte Greene’s dunk or the dance that fan did after. Dear David Stern, please allow standing room alongside the court behind the hoop. The players should demand that as part of the new CBA.
No. 2: De-what? One guy makes an effort, and he got posterized. Of course, maybe that’s why No. 8 and No. 9 made no attempt to defend the basket whatsoever.
No. 1: Brandon Jennings isn’t impressed by Jimmer Fredette’s range. 20 seconds left on the shot clock, 14 seconds left, pass the ball to a teammate? Yeah, when Zach Randolph flies.
