10 Jaw-Dropping Plays from Summer League Hoops
Kevin Durant and company are proving this offseason that players don't need the NBA to increase their brand. While Deron Williams prefers to ball in Turkey, Kevin Durant, John Wall, Brandon Jennings and many others have toured the country playing in countless gyms and on a slew of street ball courts.
The latest highlight of the summer came from a Goodman vs. Drew league game; the video shows the top plays of the contest via Ballislife.
Honorable Mentions: If you've been paying any attention to what NBA players have been doing this summer, you know Kevin Durant has owned the opposition on every court he's stepped on. Durant finished the Goodman vs. Drew game with 44 points in just another night.
No. 10: I don't know if Russell Westbrook should be hyped or jealous. Sure, it looks like Westbrook's alley-oop partner has upped his hops this offseason, but Durant is showing his potential without Westbrook hogging the basketball.
No. 9: Sure, no one plays defense in street ball, but how in the world did Josh Selby fall to the second round? The Memphis Grizzlies got a steal.
No. 8: Another Oklahoma City Thunder. How James Harden didn't get more playing time in the playoffs last year is just as much of a mystery as why the Thunder traded away Jeff Green for Kendrick Perkins.
No. 7: Looks like DeMarcus Cousins has been on the treadmill this summer. The big man slams it home, taking it in from the perimeter. No. 35 is just like, "Nope, not even gonna try."
No. 6: Good ball-handling or poor defense? Sorry, Durant, I'm going with the latter.
No. 5: Durantula blows by his teammate, but he's merciful to JaVale McGee. He could've posterized him, but no, he had compassion and went with the reverse layup.
No. 4: And there's JaVale McGee doing what he does best—dunk. His ceiling is through the roof thanks to great length and tremendous leaping ability, but he's pretty raw at this point in his career.
No. 3: Okay, No. 34 definitely deserves a "C'mon, man!" Yeah, no one wants to get put on a poster, but man up.
No. 2: Now there's good ball-handling. And you know Jennings' dancing helped boost the ranking of his play.
No. 1: The bar was set high from the opening tip, literally. I take back what I said about Cousins and the tread mill; there's no way he was going to hustle all the way from half court to defend McGee.
