Rajon Rondo, When It's All Said and Done, Could Be the Greatest Point Guard Ever
There. I said it.
For all of those doubters out their, Rajon Rondo is now an elite NBA player.
It seems that because of the rise of Derrick Rose, the illustrious careers of Steve Nash and Jason Kidd, and the fact that Deron Williams and Chris Paul are still in their primes, Rondo has been labeled "overhyped."
That couldn't be less true.
Rondo is already one of the greatest playmakers of all-time. He joins the ranks of players such as Bob Cousy, Magic Johnson and Nash. Legacies aside, that statement is undeniably true.
The reason he could eventually be considered the greatest point guard ever is his potential (and I'm not saying he's not great already).
He has proven to step it up in situations where his team desperately needs a win and the "Big Three" may not be available.
On offense, his passing, ball-handling and finishing abilities are as good as they come.
On defense, his abilities to steal the ball and play perimeter defense make him one of the best defenders in the NBA at his position.
What more can you ask of a point guard? Well, there is one thing.
Shooting.
Rajon Rondo is recognized as one of the best players without a jump-shot, but if he wants to win titles, MVP awards and first-team selections, he needs to develop into a reliable shooter.
With so many years ahead in his career, there isn't a doubt in my mind that he can do just that.
Let's talk about his legacy so far.
He has a ring and an all-star game appearance. Not bad for a guy that's only played five seasons in the NBA.
So, with all of his ability, leadership and potential, don't be too surprised if everyone's calling him the greatest point guard ever by the time he retires.
