Kansas City Royals Prospect Watch: Lorenzo Cain
When the Kansas City Royals traded for center fielder Lorenzo Cain this past offseason, they were hoping that he could eventually become the starter at that position in the future.
It looks like we will have to wait until at least 2012.
Veteran CF Melky Cabrera has held down the fort in center very well this season, having arguably the best campaign of his major league career.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Meanwhile, Cain has been playing very well down at the farm in 2011.
Here are his updated '11 numbers at Triple-A Omaha as of August 18:
G: 111 R: 72 H: 129 2B: 25 3B: 7 HR: 15 RBI: 67 SB: 12 BA: .306 OBP: .376 E: 4.
As you can see, the ex-Brewers prospect is having a very solid year for the Storm Chasers.
There's no question that if it weren't for Cabera's resurgence at the top of the KC lineup this season, Cain would already be in Kansas City playing for the big league team.
Now, all he can hope for is a September call-up at this point.
Still, Cain is a player to keep an eye on for the future of this organization.
He has all the tools to be a successful in the bigs, but for now, he is just waiting for his opportunity to open up.
