NFL Power Rankings: One Bold Prediction for Every Team
With the NFL season less than a month away, here is a set of power rankings that includes one bold prediction for every team.
1. Green Bay Packers – Jermichael Finley will lead all tight ends in catches. With the second wide receiver slot opposite Greg Jennings a question mark, Finley should see a bunch of targets.
2. New England Patriots – Devin McCourty will reach double-digit interceptions and lead the league. With teams having to throw a lot to keep up with Brady and Co., the young ball hawk will feast on desperate quarterbacks.

3. Philadelphia Eagles – Michael Vick will not miss a game all season. He has played a full slate of games just once in his career, but the offensive line is trending in the right direction and he knows how important being on the field is, so he'll play it safe.
4. San Diego Chargers – Philip Rivers will win the MVP Award. He could have broken the record for most passing yards in a season in 2010, but tailed off near the end. He's too frequently forgotten in discussions about the top QBs in the game.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers – James Harrison will keep his mouth shut...until the playoffs. This may seem like a longshot; however, Harrison should have finally learned how much harm words can do after his offseason interview debacle.
6. Indianapolis Colts – Rookie Delone Carter will lead the team in rushing. Joseph Addai can't stay healthy and Donald Brown has the look of a major bust.
7. New Orleans Saints – Tight end Jimmy Graham will lead the team in touchdown catches. He is the biggest red zone threat on the roster and the wide receivers will split the big-play TDs.
8. Atlanta Falcons – Roddy White and Julio Jones will lead all wide receiver tandems in catches. In an offense that will throw more this season and lacks other options, they will pack that stat sheet.
9. Baltimore Ravens – Lee Evans will return to his 2006 form. With a quarterback that can get him the ball downfield, Evans will thrive outside of the black hole that is Buffalo Bills football.
10. Houston Texans – Johnathan Joseph will intercept Peyton Manning at least three times. In other words, he'll do what he was brought in to do and help the Texans push the Colts for the AFC South crown.
11. New York Jets – Shonn Greene will break the 1,000-yard barrier for the first time. With LaDainian Tomlinson looking at a reduced role, Greene should excel with the extra carries.
12. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys defense will go from second-worst to top-five in scoring defense. The addition of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and a favorable schedule lead to massive turnaround.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Josh Freeman will receive a couple first-place MVP votes. The young quarterback is well on his way to becoming a household name.
14. Kansas City Chiefs – Jamaal Charles will lead the league in rushing yards. Chris Johnson has contract issues, Arian Foster is dealing with injury issues already and Adrian Peterson won't have an aerial attack to take the pressure off, opening the door for Charles.
15. Chicago Bears – Julius Peppers will record at least 12 sacks. After a disappointing first season with the Bears, Peppers will rebound with the type of production they expected last season.
16. New York Giants – Victor Cruz will catch 50 passes. Slowly developing into the third option in an offense that should pass more in 2011, Cruz could surprise.
17. Detroit Lions – Calvin Johnson will lead the league in touchdown catches. He has cracked the top five before but with the return of Matthew Stafford, he should finally finish on top.
18. St. Louis Rams – Chris Long will reach 50 tackles and 12 sacks. After three inconsistent seasons, the former second overall pick will put it all together in 2011.
19. Arizona Cardinals – Patrick Peterson will win the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. It won't be long before the LSU product is considered one of the best lockdown corners in the league.
20. Minnesota Vikings – Christian Ponder will start at least five games. Donovan McNabb isn't the gunslinger he once was and the Vikings won't be contenders, so they'll let the rookie gain experience.
21. Seattle Seahawks – Aaron Curry will stand out in his new role. After struggling to become the elite pass rusher the Seahawks hoped for, Curry will become an impact linebacker by stopping the run and helping in coverage.
22. Miami Dolphins – Chad Henne will survive the entire season as the starting quarterback. Henne isn't an elite passer by any means, but he isn't as bad as Dolphins fans make him sound, either.
23. Jacksonville Jaguars – Paul Posluszny will lead the league in tackles. Motivated by a new contract and a new team, Posluszny will stay healthy and benefit from some defensive line weaknesses.
24. Denver Broncos – Tim Tebow will be the starter by week three. Kyle Orton could still get traded and the fans will continue to complain until the wonder boy gets his chance.
25. Oakland Raiders – Jacoby Ford will catch 60 passes and lead the league in yards per catch. The speedster is nearly 100 percent after a hand injury and should be the main target in the passing game.
26. Buffalo Bills – Marcell Dareus will not be a bust. That doesn't seem like a bold prediction, but when you consider the Bills' drafting record over the past decade it's actually going out on quite the limb.
27. Cleveland Browns – Peyton Hillis will lead the team in carries and catches. As the only option in an otherwise bland offense, he'll be a workhorse again in 2011. This also means he'll avoid the “Madden Curse.”
28. San Francisco 49ers – Donte Whitner will lead all safeties in tackles. Unjustly thrown under the bus by the Bills and their fans, he will prove his worth in the San Francisco secondary.
29. Tennessee Titans – Brett Kern will lead the league in net punting average. I bet you didn't expect punter evaluations, so here you go. If Chris Johnson doesn't sign, Kern might be the most exciting player on the team.
30. Washington Redskins – At least four different quarterbacks will start a game this season. John Beck, Rex Grossman and Kellen Clemens are locks while a cut-down day signing will also see the field.
31. Cincinnati Bengals – Domata Peko will lead the league in tackles for loss. The tireless run stopper is seemingly always in the opponent's backfield.
32. Carolina Panthers – Greg Olsen will lead the team in catches. With a young quarterback likely to be leading the way, the security blanket option will see a bunch of short-yardage targets.
