WWE Raw Review: Top 5 Moments from Last Night

Justin WatryJun 6, 2018

I felt that the show WWE put on last night could carry the company all the way to Royal Rumble. On the other hand, it could all end next week. With the NFL regular season coming up and higher ratings needed, I sense a lot of slow burns coming.

A lot of teases and a lot of hints. A lot of "nothing" building to a big reveal for a fall episode or Raw. Hot show booking is the last thing the WWE needs to go back to right now, especially leading into September.

With that said, last night's Raw set down a lot of what is to come in the upcoming months. I felt it was best we take a look back at last night, as to what it was really all about...

5. A Mouse on Raw!

1 of 5

This was one of the funniest things I have ever seen on Raw. While it means absolutely nothing in the big picture, a freaking mouse ran across the stage during a Raw telecast. Live on national (or worldwide) television. On cable's most watched network.

This was just ridiculous live television and what WWE has been known for over the years. I had to put this clip in here. It just confirms what I always say—watch Raw! It is live and most weeks is must see TV! You never know the next time a mouse will run out on ANY live TV show, anywhere in the world.

4. Nash/Punk Talk

2 of 5

This only lands at No. 4 because not a whole lot was solved, and that could be a good thing.

Drag the war of words out for awhile. I get that. I like that. Keep them apart for a couple of weeks.

However, it was just "insider" jabs back and forth. That's it. It seems like Punk is set to go into "Stone Cold" mode and be the rebel against the bosses of the company. This was the beginning of that, which I hope goes on for many months.

3. Triple H Explains Himself

3 of 5

Triple H said he made a mistake. He admitted to it. He "manned" up and tried to move on. Seems like a good guy to me...or is he?

The tease of leaving Kevin Nash a ticket for Summerslam opens up a ton of doors that they could walk through come September, October or even November. Being friends with Nash does not exactly make him "trust worthy."

Also, did I hear Triple H say he left "a couple of tickets" for Nash? Did he have some friends with him at Summerslam? HBK? Waltman? God forbid, Hall?

Again, so many little clues hanging out there that could mean everything when this whole thing is resolved, or they could mean nothing...you have to watch and see.

2. Morrison Wins

4 of 5

I have made no attempt to hide it. I think this win saved John Morrison's WWE career. If he did not win this one, I think fans were going to officially give up on him.

I'm not sure what to make of the feud between Truth and Morrison, but I still have no doubt that Truth is the better man right now in the company.

Perhaps paying for Melina's sins is finally over for the artist formerly known as Nitro, but time will tell if this win really is as big as I suspect it was.

Melina is now gone. Morrison is on his own and this was a first good step for him.

1. Alberto Is WWE Champ, Cena Is Not Happy

5 of 5

As many predicted, Del Rio cashed in his MITB briefcase at Summerslam and is now the WWE champion for the red brand, Monday Night Raw.

Of course, he beat Rey Rey clean in the middle of the ring—just as he did in his Smackdown debut—and it looked like he may have put Rey out for the time being.

John Cena is not a happy camper in all of this. He got screwed out of his match with Punk at Summerslam and is not happy Del Rio now holds the title.

I have news for John Cena—get used to it! The long awaited Mexico tour in October is coming up, getting closer and closer every day. There is no doubt Del Rio will be champion then.

Cena has a hard battle in front of him in order to get the WWE strap back, but you already knew that!
