Arsenal Transfer News: Today's Gunners Gossip on Wenger, Nasri and Fabregas

Wes ODonnellJun 5, 2018

Tomorrow marks the day the Gunners officially move on without Cesc Fabregas.

The North London outfit has the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tussle with Udinese and then closes the month of August with league matches against Manchester United and Liverpool as well as the second leg of the playoff.

All in all, there is no time to sulk about the loss of former captain Cesc Fabregas.

Boss Arsene Wenger finally gave in to selling the 24-year-old Spanish midfielder to Barcelona, and now his biggest decision will be how or where to spend the money acquired from the Catalan giants.

But that decision appears to be completely lost on Wenger, and he's hopelessly confident in his ball club right now for no apparent reason.

The signing of Gervinho was a great addition to this club, but he's already facing a three-game ban for a questionable booking—although Wenger is expecting to appeal the card—and the Gunners are far from full strength as it is.

As for Samir Nasri, he's unavailable for the UEFA Playoff regardless of his transfer situation due to a suspension from last year, but he's still trying to force his way out the door. He's made it painfully apparent to Wenger that he has no intention of signing an extension with the club, but the Frenchman continues to hold out hope—foolishly—for a player that could leave for free at the end of the year.

Much like the Cesc Fabregas situation, Wenger has been fighting a losing battle from day one with Nasri. All the leverage weighs heavily in favor of the 23-year-old French winger and Wenger, inexplicably, continues to deny this.

This club has sat back on their heels for far too long during this transfer period already, and now they're more likely to continue this campaign with a second-rate squad in comparison to their rivals in Manchester—United and City—Chelsea and Liverpool.

There has been some transfer talk today about Newcastle's Joey Barton—which is completely unfounded—and Shakhtar Donetsk's Jadson.

The 27-year-old Brazilian has starred for the Ukrainian Premier League club since 2005 and would be the replacement for Fabregas in the midfield.

Regardless of what Wenger decides to do about Jadson or any other player, the most important thing this club can do is move on. Fabregas is gone, Nasri is out in a year at most, but the club in North London will always be there.

For better or worse, Arsene Wenger needs to help this club and this fanbase move forward as fast as possible.
