Every MLB Team's Greatest Moment of the Year So Far
Each MLB team has had at least one moment that has stuck with them throughout the year.
Some of these outstanding moments have been individual accomplishments while others have been great team moments.
These plays, streaks and comebacks have all played a part in each team's season.
For some team near the bottom of the standings, these moments provide a glimmer of hope. For those near the top of the standings, these moments add on to an already fantastic season.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Justin Upton Walk Off
1 of 30On June 16th, the Arizona Diamondbacks were sitting in second place just behind the San Francisco Giants. The Diamondbacks had lost the first two games of the series.
The game went to extra innings. Justin Upton stepped to the plate and delivered the first walk-off home run of his career to give the Diamondbacks the win.
This moment has helped shape the Diamondbacks' season.
Atlanta Braves: Dan Uggla's 33-Game Hit Streak
2 of 30Hitting streaks do not really get much attention until they hit at least 25 games. Everyone is chasing after Joe Dimaggio's record, and after around 30 consecutive games with a hit, people believe a player has a chance to challenge the record.
Dan Uggla is one of the more unlikely players to string together a hitting streak of 30-plus games. He had been struggling this year and was only hitting .173 before his streak began.
Baltimore Orioles: Adam Jones' Great Grab
3 of 30The Baltimore Orioles and their fans have not had much to enjoy this season. Baltimore is sitting in last place in the AL East and has not provided much excitement.
Adam Jones gave Orioles fans something to cheer about when he made an outstanding grab against the Mariners earlier this year.
Boston Red Sox: Josh Beckett's One-Hitter
4 of 30Josh Beckett has been one of the best pitchers in the American League this season. He has been able to fool hitters consistently throughout the year.
Beckett had his best stuff for the Boston Red Sox's game on June 15th against the Rays. He went the distance and allowed only one hit while striking out six.
The only thing that kept him from a perfect game was an infield single.
Chicago Cubs: Darwin Barney Help Ends Dan Uggla's Hitting Streak
5 of 30The Chicago Cubs have had a rough season this year. It is looking like their streak of years without a title will continue after this season.
One thing that Cubs fans have had to cheer about is the outstanding catch that Darwin Barney made this year. He robbed Dan Uggla in the game that ended his hitting streak.
Chicago White Sox: Paul Konerko Makes an Early Move for Web Gem of the Year
6 of 30Last season, the Chicago White Sox, Mark Buehrle made the defensive play of the year on the first day of the season. This year, the White Sox would need to wait a bit longer to see a bit of defensive wizardry.
Paul Konerko made an outstanding defensive play of his own in May this year. He made a behind the back flip to Matt Thornton to end a game.
Cincinnati Reds: Opening Day Walk Off
7 of 30Opening Day can help set the tone for a team's season, so it is important to come out with a win. The Cincinnati Reds did that in style this year.
The Reds were down by three entering the bottom of the ninth. They scored once, and then Ramon Hernandez stepped to the plate with two on base. He hit a three-run home run to win the game.
Cleveland Indians: Trading for Ubaldo Jimenez
8 of 30The Cleveland Indians have been able to get around some injuries to key players and have stayed in contention for the AL Central. At the trade deadline this year, the Indians made a move to show that they were serious.
Adding Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians' roster not only helps them this year but also next year. It also shows the fanbase that the Indians are committed to winning.
Colorado Rockies: Comeback Against the Dodgers
9 of 30The Colorado Rockies have had a tough time mirroring the success that they have had in the past few seasons. This year, the Rockies have slipped toward the bottom of the NL West.
One of the highlights of the season for the Rockies was their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 9th. The Rockies entered the seventh inning down 7-3 and ended up winning the game 9-7.
Detroit Tigers: Justin Verlander's No-Hitter
10 of 30Justin Verlander is likely the best pitcher in baseball this year. The Detroit Tigers' success has been in a large part due to Verlander's outstanding performances.
Verlander threw the second no-hitter of his career this season against the Toronto Blue Jays. If Verlander had not walked a hitter, he would have thrown a perfect game.
Florida Marlins: Mike Stanton's 467-Foot Blast
11 of 30There has been a lot of drama in Florida this year with the Marlins. The team saw manager Edwin Rodriguez resign, and the team has had issues with Logan Morrison.
However, one positive thing that has been consistent for the Marlins all season is Mike Stanton's power. He hit a 467-foot blast, his longest of the season, on May 16th against the New York Mets.
Houston Astros: Jordan Lyles Debuts
12 of 30As the worst team in baseball, it is not surprising that the Houston Astros have not had many great moments this season. However, there is one moment that sticks out.
Jordan Lyles entered the year as the Astros top pitching prospect. He made his major league debut at 20 years old and pitched seven innings and allowed just two earned runs.
Kansas City Royals: The Youth Arrives

16 of 30The middle infield of the Milwaukee Brewers turned one of the best double plays of the year. Yuniesky Betancourt made an outstanding grab on a bouncing ball up the middle.
He then flipped the ball behind his back to Rickie Weeks who turned and fired a bullet to first base.
Minnesota Twins: Francisco Liriano's No-Hitter
17 of 30Both the Minnesota Twins and Francisco Liriano have had very disappointing seasons this year. More was expected from both the team and the pitcher.
Things did go right on May 2nd when Liriano threw a no-hitter. This was a very surprising performance considering the fact that Liriano walked six and only struck out two.
New York Mets: Angel Pagan Walk Off
18 of 30The New York Mets were expecting to contend for a playoff spot this season. They have struggled throughout the season and have not had many memorable moments.
One of the most memorable moments of the Mets season thus far is Angel Pagan's walk-off home run against the St. Louis Cardinals. Pagan drove the ball directly toward the Pepsi Porch, and it got out for a game winner.
New York Yankees: Derek Jeter's 3,000th Hit
19 of 30Given all of the history behind the storied New York Yankees' franchise, it is amazing to note that coming into this year, no Yankee had recorded 3,000 hits.
This of course all changed on the sunny afternoon of July 9th. Jeter drove a ball deep for his 3,000th hit. He capped off his 5-for-5 performance with the game-winning hit.
Oakland Athletics: 8-Run First Inning
20 of 30On a day when MC Hammer threw out the first pitch, the Oakland Athletics couldn't be touched. They started off the game with a huge offensive outburst.
The Athletics were powered by the first grand slam of Conor Jackson's career. Oakland scored eight runs in the first inning, seven of which came before an out was even recorded.
Philadelphia Phillies: Opening Day Comeback
21 of 30Opening Day comebacks give a team an early advantage when it comes to momentum. A team can ride this exciting victory to a multiple game winning streak.
The Houston Astros had a 4-2 lead on the Phillies going into the bottom of the night. Philly scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to win the game. The Phillies would then go on to win four of their next five games.
Pittsburgh Pirates: First Place in July
22 of 30The Pittsburgh Pirates had been one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball for a long time. In July of this year, the Pirates had finally proven that they were competitive.
On July 16th, the Pirates moved into first place. The last time the Pirates were in first place this late in a season, it was 1997.
San Diego Padres: Comeback Over the Rockies
23 of 30Last season, the San Diego Padres were one of the bigger surprises in the MLB with their impressive season. This year, it seems as if they have fallen back down to earth.

San Francisco Giants: Ryan Vogelsong's Return
24 of 30There had been 10 years and a few seasons in Japan between Ryan Vogelsong's appearances with the San Francisco Giants. On May 8th, he made his first start in San Francisco.
Vogelsong was outstanding. He pitched six-and-a-third innings of scoreless ball, and he only gave up one hit. Giants fans treated Vogelsong to a standing ovation as he left the field.
Seattle Mariners: Trayvon Robinson's Catch
25 of 30Trayvon Robinson immediately made an impact during his major league debut. Robinson is known for his bat, but this moment was all about his glove.

St. Louis Cardinals: Albert Pujols' Performance on July 9th
26 of 30Albert Pujols had been having a good year before he got hurt, but he was not living up to his usual high standards. Pujols was able to return to the Cardinals earlier than they had expected after his injury.
Since returning from his injury, Pujols has been on an absolutely tear. It all seemed to start on July 9th when he went 3-for-4 with a home run.
Tampa Bay Rays: The Legend of Sam Fuld
27 of 30It is almost always the case that the statheads are in the front office and not on the field. However, that is not true when Sam Fuld plays for the Tampa Bay Rays.
He had an internship at Stats LLC during the offseason of his first professional season.
Rays fans fell in love with Fuld after his hot start to the season. He put together a great April, but he has struggled since then.
Texas Rangers: Setting the Tone on Opening Day
28 of 30The Texas Rangers entered the season with a lot of pressure on them and a target on their backs since they are the reigning AL Champions.
The Rangers got their first test of the season right away. Texas opened their season with the Boston Red Sox. The Rangers beat the Red Sox 9-5 and helped show that they were not a one-year wonder.

Washington Nationals: Bryce Harper's MiLB Debut
30 of 30While this many not be an MLB moment, it is certainly the greatest moment that Nationals' fans have seen this year. Bryce Harper entered this year with many expectations.
Harper has been outstanding in the minors and has shown the abilities that made him the No. 1 pick in the draft. Watching Harper move up the Nationals system should be very exciting.
