WWE SummerSlam 2011 Results: A Close Look at Each Match and What Lies Ahead

0 of 8

The biggest event of the summer, WWE SummerSlam 2011, just took place. There were surprise guests, musical performances, some darn good matches, and an AMAZING finish.

SummerSlam almost feels like the WrestleMania of the summer. In other words, it is basically the WWE's second-biggest show.

So, it is important that we all know what happened and what to expect from here on out.

Lets take a look at what happened last night and what may happen following the biggest show of the summer, especially after a huge finish and maybe a big and sexy return.

6-Man Tag: Miz/RTruth/Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio/Kofi Kingston/John Morrison

1 of 8

It is a shame that none of these six great superstars could have been used for better storylines. This was more like a we-do-not-know-what-to-do-with-any-of-you-tonight-so-you're-all-in-one-match type of deal.

It is a little disheartening, especially since the Miz was just in the main event of WrestleMania not too long ago.

But anyway, it was an entertaining match.

Miz gets out of the 619 and then is smashed by Kofi from the top rope. Mysterio hits R-Truth with the 619 and then gives him the splash from the top rope.

    What Happens Next

Expect the feud between R-Truth and John Morrison to continue. They have not even come close to settling this.

Alberto Del Rio and Kofi Kingston's feud might be over already. It never really picked up steam and ADR...well...you'll see.

The Miz and Rey Mysterio are up in the air. This could be a great feud, but with Rey Mysterio being injured, who knows how much he can do?

Miz is so good that they can do anything with him and it will be entertaining.

Expect this feud to continue, but do not be surprised if either of them are included in the main-event picture soon.

Sheamus vs Mark Henry

2 of 8

Good storyline, good match, so/so finish.

Mark Henry has been on a serious role, taking out superstars left and right.

Sheamus stepped up to the plate to stop Mark Henry.

The men end up outside the ring. Mark Henry picks up Sheamus, and they go through the barricade. Henry climbs back into the ring while Sheamus is left laying there, lifeless.

    What Happens Next

The WWE would have been stupid to end Mark Henry's hot streak. Having Sheamus win would have ruined everything they had done with Henry up to this point. One would have to think a title shot has to be coming in the near future for Henry.

As for Sheamus, his face turn is somewhat working. He's not an easy guy for kids to like, but the older fans have taking a liking to him.

A title shot soon is not out of the question, but do not be surprised if this feud continues a little longer.

Also a good time to get more chips, pizza, and soda.

Divas Championship: Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Pheonix

4 of 8

The buildup to this match had actually been pretty good, which is surprising for a Divas match. Beth Pheonix's heel turn has made the Divas a little easier to pay attention to.

Pheonix gets Kelly in position for the "glam slam," but Kelly reverses it into a roll-up pin.

    What Happens Next

Beth Pheonix and Kelly Kelly are probably not done feuding. Expect this to continue on until at least the next PPV.

Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett

5 of 8

This has been a decent storyline, and it was a good match by two future stars. Both men have great in-ring ability, and Wade Barrett puts on quite a show.

Barrett breaks out of the LeBell Lock, leading to Bryan's taking Barrett to the top rope for a big move that Barrett reversed. That led to a big clothesline from Barrett, who then hit Bryan for the Wasteland.

    Wade Barrett

    What Happens Next

This storyline does not look to be ending soon. Neither man will be pushed for the main event right away, so they will probably continue this feud for a little while, unless Bryan surprises us and cashes in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

It is doubtful that the WWE will actually let him cash it in at WrestleMania as Bryan said he would, so expect it to happen within the next few months.

No-Holds-Barred World Heavyeight Championship Match: Christian vs Randy Orton

6 of 8

Christian has been riding the biggest push of his career, and he has been doing well.

He and Randy Orton have had great matches at the last few PPVs, and this one was another. Their rivalry has been exciting week after week, and they have carried each other well throughout each match.

    Randy Orton

    What Happens Next

This rivalry could be over, and that would be fine. Orton and Christian have fought at multiple PPVs in a row, and a new feud for each superstar would be a nice change of pace.

Although the feud has been great, we do not want it to get stale.

WWE Championship Match: CM Punk vs John Cena with HHH as Referee

7 of 8

The match we had all been waiting for ever since CM Punk "left" with the WWE title.

This was by far the best match of the night: Cena was impressive again against Punk, and the two put on one heck of a show.

It also had by far the wackiest/craziest finish of the night. No, month. No, YEAR!

CM Punk and Cena exchange some brutal blows. Seriously, it looked as though they may have been potatoeing each other.

CM Punk then hits Cena with the Go To Sleep and pins him for the one-two-three while Cena's foot was on the rope.

But, referee Triple H did not see Cena's foot on the rope.

    Crazy right?

Triple H congratulates CM Punk for winning after listening to Cena tell him his foot was on the rope. Triple H leaves the ring.

CM Punk continues to celebrate in the ring when...KEVIN NASH comes out and Jackknife Powerbombs Punk!

    That's right, KEVIN NASH!

Then, Mr. Money in The Bank, Alberto Del Rio, comes out. He hands his briefcase to a referee, hits CM Punk with a kick to the head, and pins him for the one-two-three.

    Alberto Del Rio

What Happens Now?!

8 of 8

Well, things are definitely shaken up around here.

With Alberto Del Rio as the WWE champion, one would assume that there will be some sort of feud involving him with Cena and Punk.

This could get, no, this WILL get extremely interesting...especially when we find out what Kevin Nash has to do with all of this.

Overall, SummerSlam was a fun event with a great finish. It included big appearances from people such as Ron Artest, Jimmy Hart, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Jones from Tool, and Edge.

Also, SummerSlam treated us with the return of a legend—at least we hope so—KEVIN NASH!

What happens now? Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens on Monday Night Raw. I know I for one cannot wait!
