Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Most Anticipated Games on This Year's Schedule

Avery MaehrerJun 7, 2018

The Philadelphia Eagles' most promising season in years comes with a schedule full of heavily anticipated matchups.

Along with the normal division rivalry games between the Giants and Cowboys, this year's contests will surely be among the best in the league.

Here's a look at the top five games all Eagles fans will be able to look forward to this season.

5. Eagles vs Jets: Week 15

1 of 5

Lincoln Financial Field will host the first meeting between the Eagles and Jets since 2007, when the Eagles held New York to just nine points.

The Jets have come a long way since then, however, and head coach Rex Ryan and star quarterback Mark Sanchez will make this one of the toughest games of the entire season. These are two young, rising, evenly matched teams, making this affair all the more compelling.

In eight meetings, the Jets have never beaten Philadelphia. This could very well be the year that streak ends.

4. Eagles vs Patriots: Week 12

2 of 5

Philly fans have hated Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots ever since they took away their chances at the Lombardi Trophy back in 2005.

The team has drastically changed since then, but Andy Reid would undoubtedly love to get some sweet revenge in this Thanksgiving weekend matchup.

Like the Jets game, this is sure to be one of the most difficult games of the season for the Eagles.

3. Cowboys vs Eagles: Week 8

3 of 5

Of course, this list wouldn't be complete without a Cowboys game. The Eagles will face off with their division foe on the nationally-televised Sunday Night Football at the Linc.

Romo's back from his injury and it will be right in the middle of the season—playoff hopes likely on the line. The game comes after a bye week for the Eagles, and with Reid having a 12-0 record in games following a bye week, it should help their chances dramatically.

The Eagles have regained the status of division favorites going into this season. The Cowboys are going to come into Philadelphia with a vengeance, and it will surely result in a highly competitive and riveting night of football.

2. Eagles vs Falcons: Week 2

4 of 5

Another Sunday Night Football game for the Eagles will be their second game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons.

It will mark Michael Vick's first return to his former home as a starter of another team. In 2009, for the most part, Falcons fans seemed to welcome Vick back with open arms.

But with a better team led by a healthy Matt Ryan, and Vick now leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl-or-bust season, the Atlanta faithful may not be so happy to see their former Pro Bowl quarterback back in the Georgia Dome.

1. Cardinals vs Eagles: Week 10

5 of 5

It might not be the most competitive game of 2011 for the Eagles, but their Week 10 face-off with the Arizona Cardinals will be one fans will remember for years to come.

After becoming injured and subsequently being outplayed by Vick, former Eagle Kevin Kolb was given the boot a few weeks ago, when he was traded to Arizona.

The game will likely mean a lot to both Kolb and the Eagles, as Kolb will want to prove the Eagles wrong, and the Eagles wanting to justify their decision to stick with Vick.

It's the former franchise quarterback versus the new franchise quarterback, and it'll make for one helluva game.
