Colorado Rockies Benefit the Most from the Matt Holliday Trade
The Colorado Rockies made a headline trade today. Sending Matt Holliday to the Oakland A's for Relief Pitcher Huston Street, Starting Pitcher Greg Smith, and the centerpiece of the deal, Center Fielder Carlos Gonzalez. The Rockies definitely got the better end of the deal.
Huston Street has been a solid closer throughout his career. Yes, last year he struggled, but that's mostly on manager Bob Geren.
The media also blew the story out of proportion of Street losing his job as closer. From what I've read, it was Street himself who made the suggestion since he was struggling. Part of the reason was the A's had no offense so that meant way more pressure on Street now that he'll be in Colorado he should be able to be less stressed out because he'll have an actual offense.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Greg Smith is going to definitely benefit the Rockies starting pitching. He's a lefty with the best pick-off move in the game. His 7-16 record and 4.16 ERA are very deceiving. He lead the A's staff with 190.1 innings pitched had two complete games, which was ninth in the A.L.
It didn't help Smith out that he was among the league leaders in lack of run support. So he will definitely give the Rockies a solid starter in their rotation.
Now, onto the player who will be starring in Center Field for years to come. His name is Carlos Gonzalez. He is a five-tool player he can hit for power it will definitely help him to be in Colorado right now he's more of a line-drive hitter but as he matures he'll have some huge years for the Rockies. His defense is amazing and he will be a contender for a gold glove each and every year.
So, even as an A's fan if you asked me who got the best deal? It was the Rockies, but the trade helps both teams. It gives the Rockies the flexibility to move Willy Taveras or put Gonzalez in Right Field because he's got a great arm.
Here are some links for Rockies fans to just show the talent of Carlos Gonzalez, a player the Rockies fans should be excited about for a long long time (Video One, Video Two, Video Three). He's athletic and he robs people of hits.
Again if you're a Rockies fans you should be definitely be excited with the addition of Carlos Gonzalez. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any videos showing off Gonzalez's arm but he's someone you absolutely do not run on because he can make the throw from the outfield.
