WWE SummerSlam 2011: C.M. Punk Needs to Walk out as WWE Champion !

Tom Urtz Jr.Jun 7, 2018

There are many things in this life that we want. We all want fame, fortune and love. However, what we want usually doesn't mesh with our reality.

I used the word need because for C.M. Punk's sake he needs to perform in the shining lights of Hollywood at the Staples Center on Sunday. We all know C.M. Punk can talk a great game, but if he doesn't back it up Sunday, all the buildup and work to this point will be squandered.

The self-proclaimed pipe bomb's wave of support and momentum will just fizzle out.

He needs to win Sunday to keep things fresh and interesting. John Cena has walked out of too many main events on top.

From a fan's perspective, why should I spend hundreds of dollars a year on pay-per-views only for the main event's outcome to be easily predicted?

We all know John Cena and C.M. Punk will not be feuding much longer. Cena's destiny for Wrestlemania in Miami is set. We know that he will face the hometown hero, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the main event.

Having Punk hold onto to the title for a little longer could allow him to start developing a potential matchup for Survivor Series, the next major PPV.

If C.M. Punk were to lose, where would he go storyline-wise? There can only be so many title matches featuring Cena and Punk. The fans are sick of it, the locker room is sick of it and I think Punk and Cena are sick of it.

The way I see it, Punk will somehow circumvent the authority of Triple H in the match this Sunday.

By hook or by crook, C.M. Punk will attempt to get one over on Triple H. In some form or fashion he will attempt to remove the C.O.O. from the match.

Then at the right moment Punk will hit a G.T.S. and will look for a referee to call the pinball. In a fantasy element I would absolutely go nuts if no one other than Paul Heyman showed up to call the pinfall just like he did at One Night Stand in 2006.

However we must return to reality. In all likelihood, another referee will come from the back to finish officiating the match.

If C.M. Punk were to win the title at Summerslam, much to the chagrin of the C.O.O., Triple H, the newfound Corportate Officer may feel compelled to win the title back himself.

We all know about Triple H and his larger-than-life ego. I can only think that he would love to get another reign or two as champion so he can boast that he has more title reigns than John Cena.

The Game is probably itching to get back in a ring and he could use the excuse of him doing what is best for the business by getting the title back from C.M. Punk.

The tension is visible when Triple H and Punk trade words in the ring. Punk has made multiple references about Stephanie McMahon, the wife of Triple H, during many of his promos.

It has a storyline in the making written all over it. The feud would be a lot better in my opinion if Punk walks out as champion.

Creative has really done a great job building up C.M. Punk's character by letting him speak his mind and doing whatever he wanted. Having Cena as the WWE Champion once again would not be good for business.

The C.M. Punk era has drawn in old fans who yearn for the raunchiness and aggression that the Attitude Era represented. As long as Linda McMahon is planning a political office campaign, WWE will stay PG so constituents will be pleased.

C.M. Punk has mastered the ability of taking PG to the limits on Monday Nights. This is due to Punk's great mic work and spontaneity. This all is due to the fact that many things he rants and raves about are what he truly believes.

I watch Monday Night Raw each and every week now to see what C.M. Punk will do and say. When WWE went PG I tuned my TV to alternate programing because it felt cheesy and too childish at times. I would hate to see Punk thrown into some cockamamie storyline because he loses the title.

I'm pretty sure everyone on here, with a few exceptions, would cringe if Cena walks out of Summerslam as WWE Champion for the umpteenth time. However we all know the history of creative and sometimes they just leave the fans scratching their heads.

What do you want to see happen Sunday? Who would you like to see C.M. Punk feud with next?

Wrestling is for the fans and we have a voice. We want wrestling and I feel this is a great way to air out some ideas.
