Sting, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash All Victorious at TNA's Turning Point 2008

Josh NasonNov 9, 2008

The first pay-per-view highlighting the Main Event Mafia angle for TNA was a clean sweep as all competing members took home big wins including World Champion Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle and Legends Champion Booker T. This edition of Turning Point was the fifth in the company's history and came from the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.

The quick results are below, but please check out Figure Four Weekly Online for the in-depth details. I didn't see much of the show tonight, but added some details where I could.

World Champion Sting pinned AJ Styles. Finish came when Styles was getting ready to finish off Sting when the Main Event Mafia came out and distracted him. Styles missed the Pele kick and Sting rolled him up for the win. Match was okay, but it lacked a real hook.

Kurt Angle defeated Abyss in a falls-count-anywhere match.
Highlights include an awesome somersault splash from Angle from the stage and a moonsault onto Abyss.

Kevin Nash pinned Samoa Joe. Nash hit two power bombs, one low blow and had his feet on the ropes to pin a bloodied Joe.

Tag Champions Beer Money defeated Motor City Machine Guns. Finish came when they hit the DWI on Chris Sabin for the win.

Legends Champion Booker T pinned Christian Cage. Book pinned him with an old school roll-up and now must report to the Legends meeting at 8 am Monday (seriously). I'm sure Nash will be on time for that one.

Taylor Wilde and Roxxi defeated Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed when Wilde pinned Saeed with a German suplex.

Eric Young pinned Jay Lethal in the 10-man X Division match to earn an X-Division title shot. Great opener...went roughly 15-18 minutes...everyone looked great and it was what we expected: a bit spot fest. Young did a serious promo post-match about the TNA Originals. I'm not a big fan, but these promos are way better than the joke stuff he has been doing the past few months.

Order of elimination, and rankings were Sonjay Dutt, Volador Jr., Jimmy Rave, Homicide, Consequences Creed, Petey Williams, Tanahashi and Doug Williams.

Rhino defeated X Division Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir. Apparently, Scott Hall and members fo the Insane Clown Posse were at ringside during the match and Bashir had a run-in with them. One of the members threw a drink into the ring at one point. They were never mentioned by name, but just as "familiar faces." Ok. Scott Hall, what are you doing?
