WWE News: Why Sin Cara Suspension Is a Huge Botch for WWE
After coming into the WWE with a tremendous amount of hype, Sin Cara hasn’t panned out as the company had hoped.
The former Mexican superstar was supposed to be the new bridge to bring in Mexican fans for the WWE—since Rey Mysterio became so mainstream in American media.
While Sin Cara's impact was far less than anyone in the talent relations and creative departments had hoped for, the company isn’t willing to let him go.

The biggest problem in Cara's short time with the WWE was his recent steroid suspension and his subsequent denial.
In the past, the WWE turned a blind eye to the usage of steroids, but recent heat has caused them to install what they describe as a "rigid system."
After Sin Cara tested positive, the WWE gave him the first-strike suspension of 30 days and put him out of commission with an injury angle by having Sheamus slam him through a ladder during the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
Once the suspension became public knowledge, the Mexican icon had to go on the defensive as he attempted to protect his image at home. However, denying the WWE's injury storyline is frowned upon by the WWE, causing some internal discussions about what his future would be with the company.
Although cooler heads prevailed, Sin Cara will not get off without being punished.
His suspension doesn't end until late August, but the WWE will return the character of Sin Cara to television—in a way that could hurt.
Wrestle Zone is reporting on a possibility that may explain the early return:
One way WWE might be getting around its own rule is by having developmental wrestler Hunico portray the Sin Cara character until Cara has actually served the 30 day suspension.
For those unfamiliar with the sport of wrestling in Mexico, the idea of the mask is sacred to the wrestlers and it’s part of their individual personality. The only time someone else would wear another wrestler's mask would be if it was passed down to a son or worthy successor that was continuing in the same business.
For the WWE to hand his mask off to another wrestler while Sin Cara sits at home is the ultimate slap in the face. While Sin Cara was a giant in the Mexican wrestling business, the WWE won’t hand him anything.
The hope from the WWE is that this drastic act will be enough to shake Sin Cara and make him appreciate the opportunity he has been given.
It is extremely possible that this action would damage the relationship between Sin Cara and the WWE. Sin Cara is a tremendous star in Mexico and if he feels disrespected, he can return to his huge market in Mexico.
Sin Cara has the talent and in-ring prowess to be a great star in the WWE, but he needs to keep his nose clean and his eyes on the prize or its back to Mexico he goes.
