3 Reasons Why Zack Ryder Needs to End TLIS: the Jersey Shore Phenomenon
I'll be the first to admit that Z! TLIS has been an entertaining ride.
From getting to really see Zack, to meeting the Big O and Zack's dad to the invention of the Internet championship, it's all been entertaining.
It's also been a great way to sell his T-shirts.
Now, much like Jersey Shore, it needs to be wrapped up.
A Cardboard Character
1 of 4What makes Ryder's and the Jersey Shore crew's characters so interesting and entertaining is that they are two-dimensional.
They both have catch-phrases and simple wants and needs.
The problem for both is that this has made them predictable. The more air time you get and the less three-dimensional you are the sooner you'll wear people out.
This leads to boredom and backlash.
The truth is that Internet fans are the most fickle in any sport.
We enjoy free, unorthodox entertainment that changes daily. This means that anything that doesn't constantly change is quickly made absolute.
For as much as the IWC loves Zack, we'll turn on him if he doesn't keep the ball rolling.
A New Set of Scenery
2 of 4Zack does need to end TLIS, but he needs to go through a transitional change before he does.
As he gets more television time on Smackdown, he can slowly get rid of the show, but until then it would be better if he merged the two.
I think that instead of doing the weekly show from his room—which was funny and made sense when he couldn't get on TV—he should now move it to behind the scenes on Smackdown.
MTV realized that the Jersey Shore cast was getting boring, so they sent them off to Italy.
It doesn't make the characters any different, but the new setting changes something and gives new scenarios to keep people tuning in.
Zack should do the same.
The biggest reason why he needs to end Z! TLIS, though, is...
The Bubble Is About to Burst
3 of 4Zack was able to brilliantly market himself in connection with the Jersey Shore cast.
Unfortunately, they are riding on a bubble. In a sense, so is Zack's character.
Soon enough, the Jersey Shore fad will end and the backlash will begin against everyone who was in it and anything connected to it.
That includes Zack's character.
His mannerisms, look and character are all shaped to fit into the fad.
Unfortunately, it's going to happen soon.
When it does, Zack should try not to be anywhere near it, because once the backlash hits that character is going to go down in flames.
He needs to jump ship before that happens.
Meant for More
4 of 4Zack has talent, charisma and the brilliance to know how to market himself in a way that resonates with viewers in the 21st century.
He could be the next big thing.
As for ending the show and the character, it can happen right away or slowly over time.
However it's done, it needs to happen soon.
Once the initial 15 minutes are up, just like the Jersey Shore cast, if he doesn't have any substance, Ryder will be history.
You know it bro. And so should Zack.
