WWE: 10 Best Known Real-Life Couples in Wrestling

0 of 10

Pro wrestling's non-stop cycle of entertainment makes it perfectly compatible with the 24 hour news cycle of dirtsheets that cover it.

One of the more frequented topics among said dirt sheets are the inevitable relationships formed between co-workers outside of the ring.

Recent news of Stacy Keibler's fling with A-list actor George Clooney brings about memories of various pro wrestling relationships that have captivated the hearts and headlines of fans and pundits alike.

WWE has shot various angles featuring on-screen couples, but history dictates that most of these on-screen romances are either real, or end up being real.

For all the black clouds that continue to perpetually hover over the wrestling business, clouds which seem to be annually darkened by untimely deaths of famed wrestlers, pro wrestling has given way to some of the more memorable real-life romances in the entertainment business.

10. Traci Brooks and Kazarian

1 of 10

    Married:  Jan. 7, 2010

    Promotion where they met: TNA

Memorable on-screen angle:  Traci returned to TNA earlier in 2011 and attacked Cookie, who had been assaulting Kazarian alongside Robbie E. during a post-match beat down.

This couple as a single name: TraKaz.

Traci Brooks and Kazarian are one of the more tenured couples in TNA, having dated for years before getting married in early 2010.

Brooks has been on and off TNA's payroll since debuting with the company in 2003, as has Kazarian who left TNA a few years after his 2003 debut for a brief stint in WWE before working the independent circuit.

Both Brooks and Kazarian are currently employed with TNA.

9. CM Punk and Beth Phoenix

2 of 10

    Dating Since:  Unknown

    Promotion where they met: WWE

Memorable on-screen angle:  CM Punk eliminated Beth Phoenix in the 2010 Royal Rumble.

This couple as a single name: CM Beth

CM Punk and Beth Phoenix are more well known as an item to the Internet crowd than the mainstream media.

It has been widely speculated that the two are dating as WWE reportedly moved Phoenix over to RAW to appease Punk during contract negotiations and has since begun pushing her out of nowhere in what seems to be one of Punk's many contract perks for re-signing.

Phoenix was also alongside Punk for a recent high-profile interview with GQ magazine

Punk has one of the more impressive dating resumes in all of wrestling and the inclusion of Phoenix, possibly his most serious companion yet, only enhances it.

8. Undertaker and Michele McCool

3 of 10

    Married:  June 26, 2010

    Promotion where they met: WWE

    Memorable on-screen angle:  None

This couple as a single name: Undercool

Always one to keep up the kayfabe, the Undertaker's personal life has never been exploited by the WWE outside of his "deadman" character.

After parting ways with his ex-husband wife Sara, the Undertaker upgraded to WWE Diva Michele McCool.  The two remained tight-lipped about their relationship, although they both remained on the SmackDown brand until McCool's recent retirement.

With the Undertaker battling debilitating injuries as of late, McCool has been by his side, even being allowed to take time off of the road to be with her legendary spouse.

McCool and Undertaker tied the knot last June.  Pictures of the wedding between McCool and the Undertaker surfaced online, which is something that Vince couldn't have been too happy about.

7. Brock Lesnar and Sable

4 of 10

    Married: May 6, 2006

    Promotion where they met: WWE

    Memorable on-screen angle:  None

This couple as a single name: Sock

Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and legendary WWE Diva Sable began dating in 2004, and their relationship picked up steam following the WWE departure of both former stars that same year.

Lesnar has since made a successful transition into the UFC, where he is a former Heavyweight Champion.

Sable and Lesnar have two kids together, with the monosyllabic, masculine names of Turk and Duke.  Expect Thor to be due out within the next trimester or so.

6. John Morrison and Melina

5 of 10

    Dating Since: Early 2000s

    Promotion where they met: WWE

Memorable on-screen angle:  Melina was the on-air manager of the MNM tag team comprised of Morrison Joey Mercury.

This couple as a single name: Jo-Mel

This controversial couple has been in a long-term relationship that dates back to when they met at the Tough Enough III auditions in the early 2000s.

The couple went through a rough patch that saw Melina notoriously engage in a brief relationship with Dave Batista.  They have since resumed dating and remain together to this day.

Melina's recent release will certainly serve as yet another test of this resilient relationship, but judging on the way Morrison's being booked as of late, and due to the sheer fact that stunts don't win championships, he might want to join his longtime lady friend on the unemployment line.

5. Matt Hardy and Lita

6 of 10

    Dated From: 1999-2005

    Promotion where they met: NWA

Memorable on-screen angle:  Matt Hardy was embroiled in a bitter feud with Edge and Lita, who had a real-life affair that ended Lita and Hardy's relationship.

This couple as a single name: Mita.

Who could forget the Maury Povich-like romance between former WWE Diva Lita and noted malcontent Matt Hardy?  The two dated in real life and then on screen when Lita served as manager for the Hardy Boyz.

    Then she served Edge.

Following the well publicized affair between Edge and Lita that led to Hardy being fired by the company for unprofessional behavior, WWE attempted to capitalize on the drama by bringing Hardy back to feud with Edge.

The feud was cut short and while Edge achieved career heights on the strength of such a dastardly act, Hardy would remain a mid-card act for the duration of his career despite flirting with the upper echelon on occasion.

4. Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett

7 of 10

    Dated From: August 21, 2010 - Present

    Promotion where they met: TNA

Memorable on-screen angle:  Jeff and Karen Angle teamed against Kurt Angle in a long-term feud in 2011.

This couple as a single name: Jaren.

After Karen and Kurt Angle divorced in 2008, Karen would go on to be romantically linked to Jeff Jarrett, Angle's TNA employee.

When the news broke, via the Bubba the Love Sponge Show, that Jarrett was indeed dating Angle, drama ensued as TNA President Dixie Carter requested that Jarrett stay away from television tapings.

All was eventually forgiven and, of course, a long-term story line in 2011 pit the Jarretts (who married in 2010) against Kurt Angle.

3. Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth

8 of 10

    Married From: Dec. 30, 1984-Sept. 18, 1992

Promotion where they met: ICW-International Championship Wrestling

Memorable on-screen angle:  Miss Elizabeth served as Randy Savage's on-screen valet for much of his wrestling career.

This couple as a single name: Randelizabeth.

The late Randy "Macho Man" Savage was synonymous with his on-screen valet Miss Elizabeth, who managed him for the majority of his career.

The unofficial first couple of wrestling publicly tied the know in the "Match Made in Heaven" at SummerSlam in 1991, although they had been married since 1984.

Sadly, Savage and Miss Elizabeth divorced in 1992, although they remained an on-screen pair from a business standpoint following Savage's departure from WWE to WCW in the mid-90s.

2. Vince and Linda McMahon

9 of 10

    Married From: August 26, 1966-Present

Promotion where they met: N/A-they met in church.

Memorable on-screen angle:  Vince McMahon divorced Linda McMahon leading up to a WrestleMania X-Seven match against his son Shane.

This couple as a single name: Vinda.

Vince and Linda go back to their teens, where they reportedly met in church (apparently before Vince turned into Satan).

The McMahons went on to build the global entertainment empire of the WWE, where Linda McMahon served as CEO until resigning in 2009 in favor of a political career.

Linda came up short in a U.S. Senate bid for the state of Connecticut, however, she is expected to run again in 2012 with the full support of Vince McMahon and the WWE Machine behind her.

1. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

10 of 10

    Married From: October 25, 2003-Present

    Promotion where they met: WWE

Memorable on-screen angle:  Triple H and Stephanie McMahon reigned over the WWE TV from 2000-2001 as part of the McMahon-Helmsley Era.

This couple as a single name: Stephanie McMahon

The heirs to the WWE throne of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon literally had their marriage and/or love story play out on television.

After a memorable shotgun wedding that saw Triple H elope with Stephanie against her will, the two began dating in real life and would eventually marry.

While Triple H has had a Hall of Fame wrestling career, many of the more jaded critics (as if there is any other type of wrestling critic) attribute, somewhat unfairly, his marriage to Stephanie McMahon as a key reason for his success.

Triple H is currently in semi-retirement and serves as WWE's executive senior adviser where he heads up the whiff-or-miss new talent division.  Stephanie is the Vice President of Creative and Developmental Operations.
