LeBron James: Tim Tebow Comments Show He Still Doesn't Understand Media

Eric BallJun 5, 2018

LeBron James is a hater just like the rest of us.

James completely despises the media and has used Twitter to prove as much. As James’ star gets buried in the NFL sandstorm, he still finds a way to stay in the news.

Tim Tebow has replaced James as the player currently under extreme scrutiny to succeed. Right now he is struggling mightily in training camp, and the media is taking note.

ESPN’s Merril Hoge (a former NFL QB) was at the forefront after studying him both in person and through countless hours of film. He said Tebow isn’t ready to be a successful QB in the league and there’s a lot of work ahead. He is echoing the same sentiment that virtually every member of the media watching Tebow is saying.

It was nothing that hadn’t been said about a QB before.

Yet everyone watches Sportscenter and the whole world heard the remarks—even LeBron.

So he decided to go on Twitter to stick up for the embattled QB in a series of tweets:

"

Tim Tebow will succeed in the NFL.

He's a hard worker, a student of the game, a natural born leader and most of all a WINNER! It takes time and he'll be nice

The man hasn't even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in. Guys get on that TV and act like they was all WORLD when they played. How [about] encouraging him and wishing him the best instead of hating!!"

Two explanations points!! LeBron must mean business!!

Sure, he is referencing Tebow with the remarks, but he’s really talking about himself.

The message is clear: You aren’t as good as me; bow down.

James is still reeling from the intense scrutiny that he (deservedly) received for his habitual no-show’s in the fourth quarter of the NBA Finals. The media was destroying him, and LeBron has letting it get the best of him.

This just in LeBron: That is why they get paid. They are called “analysts” for a reason. Hodge was merely speaking his thoughts on a player after forming an educated opinion. His has no bias against Tebow or any other player. It’s not personal.

That’s what LeBron has yet to comprehend. Nobody is personally out to get him. In fact, I’m sure most people in the media would love to hang out with James and his entourage. But they have a job and that job is to evaluate and analyze what they have just seen.

When you win two straight MVPs and look to be taking a whole city on your back, people will praise you to the high heavens.

But when you say the phrase “taking my talents to South Beach” and you throw a victory parade in July and you say your going to win more than seven championships…then are a no-show at the most crucial point of the season—yes, the people paid to analyze events will criticize you.

It’s part of the job to deal with the media whether athletes like it.

Nobody in Denver wants to hear a gushing love fest about how great Tebow is off the field. They want to know if he can win the Broncos games this year or not.

Because in sports that’s all that matters…. did you win or did you lose?

It’s a black and white question that LeBron clearly sees in shades of gray.
