WWE RAW Review, Aug. 1: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

Wow! What a show that was! Up and down, and up and down, and up and down!

Very hit or miss tonight. In what was a pretty enjoyable two hour program, I must narrow the show down the three parts—the best segment, the worst segment, and the "What was that?!?!" segment.

The Good

Everything involving Triple H, John Cena, and CM Punk. This was top notch stuff. WWE has yet to drop the ball with this program, despite what many think. The promo at the beginning of the show was great. Punk is doing a great job.

Triple H is doing a fine job as well in all of this. He needs to step back a little back, though. Unless he is building to a return match, he needs to ease up. Cena is also playing will role well. Of course, there is plenty more to be written in this saga, so perhaps, the best is yet to come?

The Bad

The lack of SummerSlam hype. Kelly Kelly vs Beth for the WWE Diva's Championship was made. Cena/Punk continued their storyline, and Christian/Orton in a No Holds Barred match was made last week. That is fine, but we are two weeks away.

We needed Miz vs Rey to be set. Miz vs Morrison. R-Truth vs Rey. Truth vs. Morrison. Del RIo vs. Rey. Del Rio vs Kofi. SOMETHING! Any of those would have taken two minutes to add. Nothing major was needed, just a simple reference to the PPV in two weeks. That is it.

The Ugly

This one is more about the business itself, than Raw tonight, but it fits together. It is no secret that Punk has made a few demands to return to WWE. More money. His own music. More of a spotlight on himself.

His best friend, Colt Cabana maybe getting re-hired. Now, we can add one more thing to the list—a push for his real life girlfriend, Beth Phoenix.

It is no coincidence, folks. For all the talk we hear of Triple H/Cena/Orton and others using politics to get their way, do not turn a blind eye when one of your "favorites" does the exact same thing. Everybody plays politics, folks. Everybody!

Notice Melina and Morrison sure have been treated nicely the past week? Yeah, clearly something is up there. I have no problems with it, that's life; but I do not want to read about everyone complaining whenever Triple H/Cena/Orton pulls a power play, yet nobody says a word when one of their "heroes" does it...
