WWE: 5 Reasons Vince McMahon Is Better off Behind the Scenes
While Triple H taking over for Vince McMahon is definitely a storyline, it is also going to eventually become a reality. it is one of those tricky situations where art imitates life. For those still living under a rock, Triple H is Vince McMahon's son in law.
Shane McMahon, Vince's birth son, is no longer with WWE. Linda McMahon is no longer with WWE. Sure, they are "with" the company in some shape, form or fashion, but they are both no longer under contract and have both resigned in the past few years.
That leave Stephanie McMahon, Vince's birth daughter, and her husband Triple H. With Vince getting up there in age (turning 70 in a few years), it is time for him to think about stepping down.
With any longtime boss getting ready to retire, it is always a transition, and with Triple H and Steph soon to get the reigns of the company, I think the company will be in good hands. Today, we will examine ten reasons why Vince staying behind the scene and off the TV most of the time is not a bad thing, but a good thing (thanks DDP)!
Donald Trump
1 of 5Yep, Donald Trump is why Vince McMahon should stay away. I know this will sound weird, but I think Donald Trump doing the Apprentice has ruined his image. Not his life, but his image.
Think of Hogan before his reality show, now think of everything after his show started.
Vince is becoming the same thing. He needs to stay in his office or hey, stay home. Dana White is falling into the same trap.
Appearing on everything under the sun and "over-exposing" himself. Stay behind the scenes and work your magic. I hope Donald learns from this as well, as he and Vince are friends. They have to see the benefit of staying out of the limelight.
Age
2 of 5Let's be honest. He is not getting any younger. He is not going to be stepping inside the ring anymore.
He said his final match would be against Bret Hart, and it was. His character started with Bret, and it ended with Bret. No longer a need to continue, and from the looks of it, he has stopped working out.
Vince has accepted his fate and is not pushing through it to stay in shape way past his time. While I won't name names, there are others out there who will ignore all the signs and continue to "try" and wrestle, even though everyone can see they can't so it anymore. Again, Vince is nearing 70, and thankfully he seems to be okay with that.
Triple H
3 of 5The time is right. As old as Vince is, Triple H is also now into his 40's. He is not going to be getting in the ring much anymore, either.
That may shock some of you, but just like Undertaker, his time as a full-time wrestler are over. Outside of a match Punk, Taker, or maybe a few others at big shows, Triple H is done and will now be the "Vince McMahon" for the new era.
Whenever Vince showed up, you knew something big was going down. You knew it was major. Now - Triple H is that man.
The authority figure...THE authority figure. Vince can groom Triple H into how to handle everything that comes with the job, both on screen and off. As I said, the time is right for both men, and the transition should be smooth (or as smooth as possible).
Rumors
4 of 5I do not want to spend a lot of time with this one, but there have been a ton of rumors about Vince McMahon over the years. Especially, the past few years. While nothing was ever confirmed in any way, shape or form, some have commented about how "insane and crazy" his booking ideas have been.
While we all know this business is insane and crazy, as age as sped up on Vince, it has seemed to come up at a more frequent pace. Katie Vick, Vince loved the idea and still does. Being the father of Stephnie's (his daughter) baby? Him suggesting Shane (her brother) be the father? Swerving the Internet just to do it?
No rhyme or reason...
This ties into age, but with all these rumors adding up, he should stay behind the scenes and/or be lessening his workload. I do not want to call him a "senile old man", but with all the rumors out there and how time has past him by (booking big strong muscular men just because of their size), it may be time for him to step away part-time or even full-time, which leads me to my No.1 reason...
His Grandchildren
5 of 5There is nothing more important in life than family. Without any confirmation on this, many current and/or past WWE employees have mentioned how Vince just "lights up" when he is with his grandchildren. You know?
Good for him!
As I understand it, Shane and his wife, as well as Steph and Triple H have kids. For Vince to be able to stay away from being an on-air character, that means more time at home. His wife, Linda, is into politics now, so that leaves Vince to play with his grand-kids, away from the wrestling business.
Vince can still work in the office here and there, but it is time for him to watch his family grow up and be the one thing we could never picture him as, a loving grandfather!
