Mets Still in Play for K-Rod

Dominick DiFucciNov 4, 2008

The Mets, according to MLB's Hot Stove Blog , are still in the running for Francisco Rodriguez.

Minaya was again quoted as saying "pitching is our priority" and they will look into a available option. Minaya was asked if the Mets posed a big concern to signing the 26 year old closer to a long term deal.ย

"That's for the bloggers," replied Minaya with a grin.

The Mets will have to see how the market opens. Of course, every free agent closer out there (which is a scarce group) will wait to see what K-Rod gets offered and follow up with their own proposals.

Minaya made a fair quote in one of the newspapers today, he said that when Carlos Beltran was a free agent it was said that he demanded $200 Million which ended up being only $119 Million. That being said, maybe K-Rod will not be demanding $75 Million for 5 years.
