Mets Offseason Moves That Are Needed
To me there is nothing needed more in the Mets organization than bullpen help. I dont want to hear about how Brian Fuentes is going to save the Mets nor do i want to hear about how Chad Cordero is going to come to the Mets and be a great closer. Because i'm sure we all know neither of those will come true, Omar Minaya needs to go out there and bring Francisco Rodriguez into the Mets clubhouse. As a die hard Met fan who attends many games i know that nothing will help Mets fans forget about the last two years terrible endings more than bringing him in. I understand hes been shaky in the post season recently ( Series vs Boston), but hes that type of closer that when he comes in you say to yourself, " Man we probally won this game". Opposed to when Former "Great" Billy "Say it aint so" Wagner came in and like most Met fans i myself would think to myself man i hope he gets this one. Besides getting some help for our beaten bullpen i feel as if its a no brainer to pursue either Aj Burnett or Jake Peavy. It seems as if Peavy wants nothing to do with coming to New York and dealing with the press and everything involved with playing a professional sport in this Great City, but i feel as if Burnett would be a great fit. I know he will command alot of money, but who doesnt? I mean the yankees payed Carl Pavano right? To me hes a guy that would come to New York and be happy to be on a good team where he doesnt have to be the ace because were fortunate enough to have the best pitcher in baseball but he can come into the Numver 2 spot in the rotation and go 17-9 wih a 3.00 ERA and be number 2 in the league in strikeouts behind his then would be teammate Johan "I am god" Santana. And to top it all off i think adding a true slugger like Adam Dunn to the lineup would be great. I know alot of people will probally disagree with me on this one but to me there is no doubt he can put up 40 HRS and 120 RBIS in that New beautiful ballpark Citi Field with that lineup the Mets will put in it. He can hit behind Wright in the cleanup spot and have Delgado behind him so he will be sure to see some good pitches. And how in the world could you argue with a lineup that would go Reyes leading off, Beltran batting second where he should always be in my opinion, David Wright in the 3 spot, Dunn the big donkey batting cleanup, protected by Delgado in the 5 hole, and then the young and only improving Daniel Murphy who i promise you will put up a .300 BA with atleast 25 HRS and 80 RBIS. If that is not the best 1-6 lineup in the NL and if not all of MLB then i dont know what is. Thanks for taking the time to read my article about what i feel the Mets should do in the offseason.
