College Football Pick'em: Lisa v Tim Pollock

Lisa HorneOct 30, 2008

We have our first tie in Pick'em, and yes it's like kissing your cousin. Yuck.  Kristofer Green tied Lisa for 6/10, so the new totals are:

Lisa 37/80, Boys 38/80.

Looks like Timmy is going to have to make up some ground. You know Timmy. He's a fan of the Cocks. (No lie!) He's been itching to get in on some of the action, and why not have him pick this week to see him drown his sorrows in another beer while his Cocks take another licking?

Here's Tim's bio:

Tim Pollock is a resident of one of the Dirty South's favorite sons, South Carolina.  Tim enjoys coffee, shooting hoops in his front yard, changing diapers, quoting the movie "Man on Fire," and the SEC.  He is also a fan of chicken wings.

Oh, I smell victory this week! The games.........

Kansas -11.5 v Kansas State:

Tim: K-State. Tough call here, but Kansas is reeling right now after getting hammered two weeks in a row, so I like the terribly inconsistent K-State team to cover.

Lise: Kansas. Where the heck was K-State against that blow-out last week? I'll take Mangino- it's the week of the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and for some reason, he seems like a sensible choice.

Notre Dame -5.5 v Pitt

Tim: Pitt. Wannstache will get his boys fired up for a meaningless game after getting thrashed by Rutgers last week.

Lise: Notre Dame. I think Touchdown Jimmy has a great game and the Irish will finally get ranked this week. Yeah, I know. It sucks.

Florida -5.5 v Georgia @ J'ville

Tim: Florida. Gators are playing too well for the Dawgs to keep up.

Lise: Gators, baby! Heck, the Gators will win by 12+. And that Gator Stomp has them riled up from last year.

Cal -3 v Oregon

Tim: Cal. In a tossup game, I like the home team.

Lise: Oregon. Fear the Quack Attack. Cal has a good running game, but Oregon has both running and passing game and a killer secondary. Ducks win big.

Florida St. -1.5 @ Georgia Tech

Tim: FSU. ACC is so hard to pick this year.  Because of their solid D, though, I like the Noles.

Lise: Georgia Tech. The Wreck at home against a Florida State team's record that has 1/3 of their wins against FCS schools? Records are deceiving...Tech looks better.

South Carolina -6 v Tennessee

Tim: South Carolina. Fulmer continues his farewell tour of losing to his rivals, as Spurrier gets one more laugh at Phil's expense.

Lise: Tennessee. The Gamecocks should win this, so if they play typical Gamecocks football, the Vols will win. It's logical. Besides, Phil will win one he's not favored in just to piss off the Vols fans who want him canned for ineptitude.

Texas -6 @ Texas Tech (College Game Day is at Lubbock)

Tim: Texas Tech. I hate Mike Leach, and I still think Tech is overrated, but since Lubbock is my birth place and all (lived there for a solid 11 months), I have to go with the Red Raiders.

Lise: Texas. If the spread was 7.5, I would take Tech. But I think the difference will be one touch, so gotta go with the Horns by 7, and they cover.

USC -43.5 v Washington

Tim: USC. Lots of points to cover, but it's at USC.  Willingham's boys will lie down in this one.

Lise: USC. If the Trojans can beat Wazzu by 69, they can do the same against U-Dub, who now has a lame duck coach. It's going to get ugly.

Michigan State -5 v Wisconsin

Tim: Michigan State. Wisconsin is still in melt-down mode.  The Spartans, meanwhile, are fighting for the Big 10 crown.

Lise: Michigan State. They haven't suffered their typical mid-season meltdown yet. Besides, Bielema is probably skating on thin ice right now and Dantonio might really open the playbook and surprise the Badgers.

Miami even @ Virginia

Tim: Virginia. Another head scratcher.  UVA is on a 4-game win streak, and Miami looks pretty darn average.  That, combined with the early start, makes me think the Cavaliers will come out on top.

Lise: Miami. If both teams play up to their potential, then Miami is a better team with better talent. The question is, which team will forget to show up?

*I'll be working a game this Saturday, so may not be able to update the tallies during Saturday (sorry guys) unless I get some "down time" in the press box.
