Higuain also expressed hope in remaining at Real Madrid to win more trophies. While Higuain has scored 77 goals within 150 appearances for Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho may have other plans for the Argentine player.

Jose Mourinho has been searching and signing new talents which have placed the future of some squad members in doubt. Mourinho fired Pedro Leon last month while Real Madrid President Florentino Perez purchased the services of Nuri Sahin, Hamit Alintrop and Jose Callejon.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Gonzalo Higuain with the recent changes in the Santiago Bernabeu.
