Tampa Bay Buccaneers Will Face the Tanard Jackson Dilemma

Tanard Jackson is out there on the fields at the IMG Academy, working out with his Buccaneers teammates, who number around 50, plus or minus a few.

The turnout has been great and add the ironic appearance by NFL Commish Roger Goodell and the NFLPA guy, DeMaurice Smith, and you've got yourself a truly weird scene.

It was simply Goodell taking a glance at what he and the owners have created.

The Buccaneers would have normally been at their preseason mandatory minicamp at One Buccaneer Place. Instead, Freeman and friends put their heads together and brought this three-day session to reality.

There's also a hard reality for the Buccaneer braintrust. Yes, Jackson was out there and that was fine. He is currently under suspension by the NFL and he won't be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September.

And that's a decision staring long at hard at Mark Dominik and Raheem Morris.

What do you do with Tanard Jackson?

Oh sure, Aqib Talib loves him and apparently the rest of the team is supporting him. But perhaps the late, great NFL Hall of Famer, Hank Stram put it best when he told me years ago:  "You cannot let the inmates run the asylum."

It's not a decision for the players, it simply falls to Dominik and Morris and no doubt there might be a whisper or two from the normally silent Glazers.

What DO you do with Tanard Jackson?

Dominik has assembled safeties out the ying-yang on the roster: Vince Anderson, Larry Asante, Cody Grimm, Sean Jones, Dominique Harris and Cory Lynch. Then there is Ahmad Black, the safety out of Florida taken in the draft. Morris really likes the kid.

So what do you do with Tanard Jackson?

He's had two chances.
