Airbourne Grounded, Evan Bourne Injured?

Joe Burgett Oct 29, 2008

If you saw the six-man tag match with Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, and Finlay against Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero, and Bam Neely, you saw Evan Bourne land awkwardly on his ankle. Well, WWE doctors had a look at it and it didn't look good at all.

Bourne tore ligaments in his ankle during the match. He has been advised to rest up and keep weight off the ankle. Although doctors told him he could miss up to four months, he is hoping to make a faster recovery and may work through the injury.

This is a huge blow to ECW. You heard last night on ECW from the announcers during the match that Bourne was in, and that he was second in most voted for behind only Stone Cold Steven Austin. They went on to say how much the fans loved him.

Obviously, the WWE knows how important Bourne is to the ECW brand, and to the WWE period. Everyone loves his high flying moves and ring ability. He brings excitement every time he goes in the ring.

We saw that the WWE made Bourne wrestle three nights in a row, and of those two were one on one matches and the other was a six-man tag match in which he was heavily involved.

It could be that he was already hurting and then they made him keep going and fatigue set in and—Boom!—an injury.

People may say "oh wrestlers have to wrestle all the time," but Bourne is a rookie and not quite up to that level yet. Even Jeff Hardy, the risk taker himself, has to take a break every now and then.

It is a shame that this happened to Bourne, but for me I think the WWE should have given him at least one night off, maybe making the Mysterio match for next week on the 800th edition of RAW. And that would have given Bourne a day of rest.

But of course, this is just my opinion. What do you think about Bourne's injury?
