WWE: My Friday Night SmackDown 6/24

Nate ScacciaJun 24, 2011

Hello Bleachers and welcome to another edition of My Friday Night SmackDown.

Before we continue, let's take a look at last week's show.

Ted DiBiase and Zack Ryder took on Chris Masters and Alex Riley. DiBiase eventually won by locking in Dream Street on Masters.

Ezekiel Jackson took on Drew McIntyre. After Wade Barrett's interference, Drew McIntyre picked up the win.

CM Punk took on Daniel Bryan. The two engaged in a good back-and-forth match before Punk knocked Bryan out with a roundhouse kick, sealing the victory.

Kane faced off against Cody Rhodes in a one-sided match. Kane dominated the early going but Rhodes managed to weaken Kane's leg just enough to help secure a victory.

In a weird main event, Sheamus took on William Regal. Regal and Sheamus have built an alliance so it was no surprise when Regal let Sheamus pin him for the victory.

Now let's start the show.

Opening Segment

1 of 9

William Regal comes down to the ring with a smirk on his face. He says that on Raw the fans got to see the birth of an new era here in the WWE. He tells the fans that the Empire Alliance will reign supreme over the WWE and will be unstoppable.

Sheamus and Drew McIntyre come out next and also have smirks on their faces. They agree with Regal and tell him that no one will stand in their way. Wade Barrett then makes his entrance, followed by Mason Ryan (he can use this theme until the WWE gives him one). All the members are in the ring and Regal tells the fans this alliance will control every aspect of the WWE. Every show will be at the mercy of the Empire Ali...

Teddy Long interrupts Regal and tells him that he will not condone any type of freelancing destructive alliance on his show. Long tells Regal to put his money where his mouth is to see just how strong this new alliance is. Regal laughs and says they will do whatever they want and as far as the "money where your mouth is" remark, Regal tells Teddy that he doesn't have enough money to buy a group of guys that could defeat the Empire Alliance.

Long tells Regal that every member of the group will compete tonight. Long also says that their opponents will be chosen at random. He leaves and the group raises their hands as we see a promo from Capitol Punishment.

Match 1: Mason Ryan vs. Trent Barreta

2 of 9

After the promo, Mason Ryan is in the ring. All the Empire Alliance members have left and Ryan is awaiting his random opponent.

Trent Barreta makes his way to the ring. Trent has a nervous look on his face but he steps in the ring with the monster. The bell rings and Ryan attacks Barreta. Ryan has him backed into the corner and he is throwing multiple shoulders into Barreta's midsection. The referee makes him back out of the corner but he attacks Trent again, this time landing multiple right hands.

The referee backs him off yet again and Trent falls to the mat. Ryan picks him up and throws him across the ring. Ryan then picks him up again and hits his finishing move for the victory. Ryan smiles and picks up Barreta again. Ryan hits another finisher on Barreta and laughs.

Ryan leaves the ring as we head to commercial.

Match 2: Sheamus and Drew McIntyre vs. the Usos

3 of 9

Sheamus and Drew McIntyre are out first with their new theme.

The Usos make their way to the ring and this tag match is ready to begin.

Sheamus and Jimmy start off in the ring. Sheamus goes for Jimmy but he dodges the "Celtic Warrior" and sends him into the turnbuckle. Sheamus elbows Jay in the face and charges after Jimmy again. Jimmy steps to the side and lands a kick to the back of Sheamus' leg. Sheamus whips around and connects with a backhand to Jimmy's head.

Sheamus then hits a suplex and goes for the pin. Sheamus receives a two-count.

Sheamus tags in McIntyre and "The American Nightmare" goes to work. McIntyre locks in a submission hold on Jimmy but he fights out of it and makes his way over to Jey. He tags in Jey but McIntyre connects with a big boot. McIntyre goes for the pin but Jimmy breaks it up.

Barrett storms off as we head to commercial.

Match 4: Ezekiel Jackson vs. Cody Rhodes

5 of 9

The new intercontinental champion, Ezekiel Jackson, makes his way to the ring.

Cody Rhodes follows and the match begins. One of Rhodes' baggers has a bag on his head.

Jackson starts off by slapping Cody in the face, which sends him to the outside. Cody is grabbing his face and yelling when Jackson walks up beside him. Jackson waits for him to turn around and he hits a clothesline. Jackson throws Rhodes back in the ring and goes for another clothesline.

Rhodes kicks Jackson in the gut and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Rhodes hits a few more moves on Jackson until the big man starts returning the blows. Jackson hits a big belly-to-belly suplex on Rhodes. Jackson screams and he is getting ready to lock in the torture rack.

Rhodes makes the referee check him out because he thinks he is "injured." This is all a distraction for the mysterious bagger, Ted DiBiase, to hit Jackson over the head with a steel pipe.

Rhodes springs up from his 'injury" and hits across Rhodes for the win.

Segment

6 of 9

Randy Orton comes down to the ring to celebrate his defense of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He grabs a mic and says that he is ready for a new opponent. Of course, this brings Christian out to say that he was robbed yet again at Capitol Punishment.

Christian shows the picture of his foot under the ropes and says that he should get another rematch. The newest SmackDown superstar, The Miz, makes his entrance.

He tells Christian that he has already had way too many chances and it is time for someone else to challenge Orton for his title. Christian and Miz argue until Teddy Long makes his way out.

Long tells Christian that he lost the match in controversial fashion and therefore should be considered for a rematch. But, he says that Christian will have to earn it. In tonight's main event, Christian will take on The Miz in a No. 1 Contender's Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Long leaves and the three men stare at each other as we head to commercial.

Christian goes to the corner and Miz goes for his running clothesline. Christian moves out of the way and hits The Miz with his signature turnbuckle kick. Christian goes to the top rope and hits a float-over DDT. Christian goes for the pin and gets a close two-count.

After the Match

Miz is walking backstage when a WWE worker brings him a letter that was on his locker-room door. The Miz grabs the letter and reads it. The letter reads:

"Come on kid, is that the best you can do? I thought you were better than that, but I guess I was wrong."

Miz looks around to see who wrote the letter but no one knows. Miz rips it to pieces as we close the show.
