Wimbledon 2011 Day 4: Serena, Schiavone and Ivanovic Enter Round Three
Serena Williams battled from a set down and ultimately cruised into the third round of Wimbledon.
With a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Simona Halep, the seventh seed enters a matchup with either Maria Kirilienko or Tamarine Tanasugarn in the third round.
Though Serena must be pleased with the outcome, her match was, especially during the first set, a battle yet again for the defending champion.
However, the more sets she plays, the more she will improve after such a long time away from the game.
Also through to the third round is Francesca Schiavone. The World No. 7 won 7-5, 6-3 against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
However, the most impressive performance may belong to Ana Ivanovic. The World No. 18 has dropped only four games in her opening two matches.
However, the Serb could be tested in the third round if she faces Agnieszka Radwanska who, with respect to Melanie Oudin and Eleni Danillidou, is a different kettle of fish.
Doubts linger regarding Ivanovic's ball toss and her mental toughness, which puts her at a disadvantage compared to such a tennis player as Serena.
Nonetheless, the truth of the matter is that all three players could continue their decent runs into the second week.
