College Football Pick'em Week 8 Results

Dumont WalkerOct 23, 2008

Week 8 of the college football season was supposed to be full of hard hitting match ups between conference foes. However what we saw on Saturday was plenty of blowouts (how does it feel Missouri?). The blowouts don't bother us because you can believe we were ready for them and our picks in the College Football Pick’em pool were on point last week.

I’d also like to take a moment and thank our friends at Church of Cowherd for joining in on the College Football Pick’em fun. Congratulations on going 4-2 against the spread and 4-2 straight up. Hope to see you around again and ready to play in week 9.

Texas 56 vs. Missouri 31: The Texas Longhorns are a very good football team. They did not allow themselves to have a letdown after their win over the Oklahoma Sooners. The Longhorns used that victory as a chance to ramp up for another top 10 game against Missouri. The Tigers were never in this one. Texas was a five point favorite and rolled.

OSU 45 vs. Michigan State 7: The Buckeyes look to be in good shape and ready for their showdown against Penn State in week 9. Michigan State was overmatched all day long in this one. Ringer had a minimal impact on the game, and once you bottle him up you bottle up the Spartans offense. Ohio State blew away the three point spread.

Oklahoma 45 vs. Kansas 31: Once again Sam Bradford proved why he may be the best quarterback that you have never heard of. Simply amazing against the Kansas Jayhawks, Bradford led the Oklahoma Sooners to nearly 700 yards of total offense. However, the spread was 20, and I knew that was a lot of points but I thought the Oklahoma Sooners would be on the path for revenge. The Sooners were out for revenge, but not 20 points worth, they failed to cover.

Georgia 24 vs. Vanderbilt 14: The Georgia Bulldogs are on the comeback trail and want to find a way to get to the Sugar Bowl. Vanderbilt was a good story, but they met the rest of the SEC and got beat. However, with their performance in week 8 Georgia has earned a spot on the Walker-Sports do not bet list thanks to their win on Saturday. That’s twice this season they have blown what should have been an easy cover. The spread was 14 and the Bulldogs could not get it done.

Boston College 28 vs. Virginia Tech 23: The Hokies went on the road and once again Boston College proved to be a house of horrors for them. Virginia Tech went into the game a three point underdog, and the odds were simply too much for them to overcome. Boston College racked up the important ACC victory.

Virginia 16 vs. North Carolina 13: The Virginia Cavaliers are quickly becoming the hottest team in the ACC and they have turned around their season in the last three weeks. More importantly they came through with the big upset win for us and covered the four point spread. Well done Hoos.
