Detroit has a great shot at winning the AL Central with the Indians finally coming back down to earth over the past few weeks.
9. San Francisco Giants
4 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 39-33
The Giants have been slumping of late, losers of four straight, after getting swept by the Oakland A's over the weekend.
They still hold a slim .5 game lead over Arizona, and must will the offense to crank it up if they plan to repeat as world champions later this year.
8. Tampa Bay Rays
5 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 39-33
The Rays have won three straight games, powering their way up four spots from last week's rankings.
Right-hander James Shields had a lot to do with this, as he had two complete game victories last week for the Rays.
7. Atlanta Braves
6 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 40-33
Atlanta dropped down four spots in the rankings this week after having an on-and-off last week of play.
They continue interleague play tonight against the Rangers, and will need to pick it up if they want to catch the first-place Phillies.
6. St. Louis Cardinals
7 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 40-33
Checking in again at No. 6 this week is the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cards are currently sit atop the NL Central division, after a thrilling walk-off homer by 2B Skip Schumaker yesterday against the Royals.
5. Milwaukee Brewers
8 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 40-33
The Brewers come in at No. 5 again this week after going just 2-5 in last week's action.
The Brew Crew appear that they are here to stay and with the way that slugger Prince Fielder has been swinging the bat this season, this offense could be something to watch for as the season progresses.
4. Cleveland Indians
9 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 39-31
The Indians made the biggest jump out of any team in the top 10, as they moved from No. 11 to No. 3 in just one week's time.
This is thanks to a current three-game winning streak, punctuated by the heroics of rookie Cord Phelps in yesterday's walk-off win against the Pirates.
3. New York Yankees
10 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 41-29
The Yankees saw themselves moving up one spot this week after a stretch of eight wins in their last 10 games.
Unfortunately for the Yanks, they still remain firmly behind Boston in the AL East for the time being.
2. Boston Red Sox
11 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 43-28
Boston is one of the hottest teams in the AL, winners of eight of their last 10 games, including a 4-2 record in last week's action.
First baseman Adrian Gonzalez is putting up MVP-type numbers with 15 homers and 64 RBI, as he and the Sox appear to be in great shape with less than a month to go before the All-Star break.
1. Philadephia Phillies
12 of 12
Current Record as of 6/20: 45-28
The Phillies are the team to beat right now in the majors, as they have won eight of their last 10 games, and now sit in first place in the NL East by five full games over the second-place Braves.
They have been led by lefty pitcher Cole Hamels, who already has nine wins this season, and star first baseman Ryan Howard's 15 home runs on offense.
