Derrick Rose: Just for Fun, Who Could the Chicago Bulls Trade Him For?
Now that the NBA season is over and prognosticators and fans are scrambling to figure out who the Chicago Bulls front office will add to the team to get past the Miami Heat and the Western Conference, one name will never come up in any potential trades...
All-star and MVP Derrick Rose.
Let's just say that behind the scenes, Derrick has decided that he is tired of his hometown and asks Gar Forman and Jerry Reinsdorf to trade him during the off-season or else he will not sign an extension with the team. Who could the Bulls realistically trade for that would provide them with anything close to justification and equal value?
The following are possible destinations for Rose, if this crazy scenario ever took place. Please feel free to leave comments, but understand that this columnist understands that this is just fantasy and discussion, and will never happen!
Miami Heat

As the NBA Finals unravel for the Big Three, Dwayne Wade finally figures out that LeBron has not only invaded South Beach, but is infecting Wade's "Good Guy" reputation. Before LeBron, we never saw Wade "coughing" to insult a fellow player, or make excuses about how the whole world is against Miami. He asks Pat Riley to move him back to his hometown.
Trade?
Miami sends Wade, Bosh and Haslem to Chicago
Chicago sends Rose, Gibson, Korver and draft picks to Miami
New Orleans

Chris Paul wants out of New Orleans, and the Hornets know that they need to sell tickets in a hurry, or they are going to lose their team to another city. Derrick Rose is exactly what they need to make the seats fill up. Chicago isn't making this trade unless they can dump some salary, so Carlos Boozer is included in the mix.
Trade?
Chicago sends Rose and Boozer to the Hornets.
New Orleans sends Paul, Ariza, Landry and two first rounders to the Bulls.
Minnesota Timberwolves

When the Bulls drafted Rose with the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Miami Heat drafted Michael Beasley. While Rose has blossomed, Beasley has struggled both professionally and personally. His lack of focus or defense removes him from any trade with Minnesota. Kevin Love, however, would be immediately embraced by Chicago. Again, the Bulls would require the Timberwolves to take Boozer as part of the deal. This trade is with the understanding that the Bulls could use Boozer's salary to add free agents of higher quality.
Trade?
Chicago ships out Rose, Boozer and Bogans.
Minnesota sends Love, Flynn, Randolph and two future first round picks to Chicago.
Orlando Magic

You knew this trade was coming. Superman for the reigning MVP.
Dwight Howard has already said that he will not sign an extension with Orlando. Can they risk losing him without compensation? Not when they hear they can get Derrick Rose to continue building.
Trade?
Bulls send Rose, Boozer and Korver to the Magic.
Magic send Howard, Richardson and Turkoglu to the Bulls.
Los Angeles Clippers

Derrick Rose was Rookie of the Year in 2009. Blake Griffin is Rookie of the Year in 2011. The Los Angeles Clippers see an opportunity to steal L.A. from the Lakers in a few years as Kobe slows, and Derrick Rose is the cure for what ails them.
Trade?
Bulls send Rose and Gibson to California.
Clippers send Griffin, Kaman and Gordon to Chicago.
