WWE the Miz: 5 Reasons Why the Awesome One Should Go Face
Happy Monday, Bleachers! It's been quite some time since I've published an article, but fear not. GSM has returned with a topic that might create some controversy in the ever changing landscape that we call the IWC.
It's no secret that the current state of the WWE roster is in need of some serious depth, given all the retirements and departures that have transpired over the last few years. However, I have found myself enjoying the wrestling-heavy SmackDown more than the more promo-oriented RAW as of late.
Anyways, I have become more and more intrigued by The Miz recently, even after he lost the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules. He has been booked to look extremely weak in the last few weeks, being pummeled by the likes of John Cena and Alex Riley each night.
Miz will meet his former accomplice at Capitol Punishment, but what awaits the Awesome One following this feud? If you haven't noticed, the jam-packed RAW brand is at a stunning lack of faces, which leads me to my proposal.
Why not turn The Miz face?
It has been rumored more recently via the dirt sheets, but it has certainly many people questioning. Once I first heard the news, I was profoundly upset, since there are many logical turns why he can't turn face. But, after some deep thinking, there are quite a few reasons why he should.
No matter if you're in favor of it or not, keep an open mind to my suggestions, and feel free to voice your opinions on the topic at hand following the presentation. Let's Bleach it!

Potential Feuds
1 of 5
Most recently, The Miz has been engaged in a heat rivalry with his former NXT apprentice, Alex Riley, following their split a few months ago. With their history and skills, I expect it to be highly entertaining and really get Riley over as a top face in the process.
But as I mentioned before, RAW is engrossed with heels that all have potential to be top stars. With Miz's time as top heel champion come and gone, a face turn could bring in fresh rivalries with many of the brand's Superstars.
I'll be publishing an article going further on this a later date, but heres a few examples. With a Chris Jericho return in the works, feuding with Miz upon his arrival will no doubt get Miz over as a credible Superstar.
In addition, his chemistry could also blend nicely with similar arrogant Superstars such as CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. With Christian and Mark Henry fresh off heel turns, the possibilities are endless.
Reaction
2 of 5There is no doubt that The Miz is one of the top hated Superstars currently in the WWE, with his cocky, narcissistic gimmick that gets the crowd on their feet for sure. As soon as "I Came to Play" hits the arena, it is certain a roar of jeers will be heard throughout the building.
His charisma, especially from his swift promos, gets himself noticed easily by the WWE Universe, while also getting his point across. The "Awesome" line performed by Miz, which many people didn't think would stick two years ago, has been one of the most followed catch phrases in recent history, even being quoted by American Idol contestant James Durbin!
Although many older fans cheer for popular heels, every heel has its haters, and Miz is no exception. His controversial WWE Championship win back in November sent an uproar throughout the internet, exclaiming concern, worry, and excitement.
Despite losing some credibility as of late due to booking, the WWE still stays strong behind The Miz with his Cinderella story background and excellent build-up. His dedication for the business shouldn't be questioned, and has been cheered on many occasions while engaging in promos with Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and surprisingly John Cena.
Lack of Faces
3 of 5
It is interesting to note that over the course of the last two months, we have already witnessed heel turns in the likes of R-Truth, Mark Henry, and Christian. Although these turns have proven themselves for the better and elevated the respective talent to a main event star status, where does this leave the faces?
Both brands have found themselves suffering from the same problem, causing many heels to just flounder and repeat numerous feuds that have already been done. A prime example of this would be none other than Alberto Del Rio, who was a top heel player on SmackDown a few months ago, but who has since been lost in the shuffle since coming to RAW.
Since the draft, many heels have suffered the same fate as Del Rio, with the brand overflowing with talent. The Miz was the key factor of the broadcast for a lengthy period of time, and still is as of now.
Although management may still be behind the Awesome One, I don't see him regaining that superior spot with Cena taking over most of the show in order to hype his anticipated match with The Rock at WrestleMania 28. Rey Mysterio is a veteran who already has done many of the feuds available on RAW, and Alex Riley is just getting started.
Triple H will more than likely not return for a good while, much less in consistent action. Kofi Kingston will unfortunately be locked to the mid-card and unable to bring out his full potential.
Having Miz take over that spot Orton used to have while on RAW would provide heels such as CM Punk, R-Truth, and Del Rio some more spotlight.
Mainstream
4 of 5Since winning the WWE Championship last November and officially becoming a top player on Monday Nights, The Miz has made numerous appearances for late night shows. His familiarity to mainstream has grown over the past year with these appearances on Lopez Tonight, Jimmy Fallon, and Conan O'Brien.
Not only does his character crave the attention, but he is definitely capable of it, as he made many crowds get behind him within minutes of showing up. His background on the reality series Real World has also been recognized by the likes of many news outlets.
His perfect build-up has lead many to believe that he could be amongst those considered as a poster boy for the WWE, as more and more pop culture references become more apparent. American Idol contestant James Durbin has not only quoted the Awesome One, but replicated his catch phrase to perfection.
The many appearance on late night talk shows by then-WWE Champion The Miz on the road to WrestleMania 27 helped promote the Show of Shows big time as far as buy-rates are concerned.
Merchandise
5 of 5
As of now, The Miz is one of the top sellers in merchandise on WWE.com, amongst John Cena and Rey Mysterio. When your merchandise is mentioned in the same breath as Cena and Mysterio, you know for certain the fans are digging the character.
Every once in a while, Miz supports new shirts as he makes his entrance to the ring, especially the most popular "I'm Awesome" inspired apparel. There are more than a handful of fans wearing the merchandise on RAW, and it's not unlikely that you will see most of his shirts sold out at live events.
Being the stylish character he is, Miz usually looks good in whatever he's wearing, persuading fans to buy the clothing in the process. If the kids were behind a face Miz, imagine how much more they could sell!
Thanks for reading, Bleachers. Make sure to comment below on if you think a Miz face turn would or wouldn't work out for the best. Look out for an upcoming article on Ruthless Rivalries for the Awesome One as well. GSM out.
