Matt Hardy's Unholy Trinity: ECW Title On The Line at Cyber Sunday

When Matt Hardy was drafted to ECW in June this year with the United States Championship belt wrapped proudly  around his waist, he might have been expecting to be calling the shots in his new home amongst the WWE extremists.

Even though he dropped the title to Shelton Benjamin soon after, Hardy didn't take long to get a hold of the ECW belt in the spectacular setting of the first "Championship Scramble," becoming the brands prize asset in the process. Enough for Matt to expect general manager Teddy Long give the champ a little bit of consultation over his matches?

Not quite. Welcome to the genius of Cyber Sunday. The WWE pay per view that will see fans around the world interactively make the managerial decisions and make the match ups the people want. In the case of ECW, Matt Hardy will have to defend his title against the winner of a text vote made up of Mark Henry, Evan Bourne and Finlay. So lets take a look at the potential matches for the current champ.

Matt Hardy vs Mark Henry
If the folks at home vote the 'World's Strongest Man' Mark Henry into the ring, expect an explosive encounter! Henry will still be consumed with rage after seeing Hardy walk away with his ECWtitle at Unforgiven.

Only recapturing that belt will satisfy the 380lb silverback, in which case Matt needs to be ready to use a combination of cunning and athleticism to take him down—because in a power battle Henry will surely be victorious and reign once more.

Matt Hardy vs Evan Bourne
Bourne may not be an obvious pick. He is the youngest of the three, the most inexperienced and has the smallest fan base. But if we want to see something new, something fresh and shake the ECW brand up—maybe Evan should get his chance. He already boasts wins over Matt Striker and Chavo Guerrero and the possibility of Hardy getting complacent would make a shock result a real possibility.

Matt Hardy vs Finlay
His name is Finlay, and he loves to fight. No man in the WWE would look forward to going into the ring with the Belfast brawler. Hardy would certainly have the athletic advantage, but Finlay will stand and fight whilst ever there is a breath in his body.

Will Matt have the heart to match the Irishman if drawn in to a brawl? Will he be able to cope with the potential interference of Finlay's son Hornswoggle. It may not be a match for the faint hearted—but it would certainly be entertaining!

So all we can do now is wait for the votes to be counted and the theme music of the chosen one announce to us the identity of the challenger. I believe if Mark Henry makes his way down to the ring, by the end of the night he will leave as Teddy Long's new most valuable asset and soon be calling the shots in ECW—rather than the people of the WWE universe.
