WWE Smackdown Results, Questions and Comments... LIVE! 6/10/2011

Rob BeloteJun 10, 2011

Capitol Punishment is rapidly approaching, and after Smackdown last week, there's a huge increase in interest in the card.

If you didn't see last week, it ended with Christian not only laying out Randy Orton by hitting him with the World Heavyweight Championship belt... but Christian walked out of Smackdown STILL HOLDING THE BELT!

Will Christian still be holding that championship when Smackdown hits the air, albeit illegitimately? Might Randy Orton reclaim possession of the belt before the night is over? Will this turn into a Ladder Match at the pay per view?

Smackdown also has another great feud brewing, as Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan have been at each others throats the past couple shows. With their ancillary inclusion, Sin Cara and Ted DiBiase Jr are also potentially going to be added into the mix, especially given WWE's interest in getting Sin Cara wrestling in high profile places.

What's going to happen tonight? I don't read spoilers, so I'm coming into this just as blind as most of you, but I'll do my best to keep up the GuysNation tradition of showing beautiful women half naked on Friday Nights by helping them share their candid pics....

Wait, I mean the OTHER GuysNation Friday tradition... the Smackdown Recap!

Christian is starting off the show, and apparently NOW the speculation begins as to why he laid out Randy Orton last week? Riiiight... like that didn't start six days and 22 hours ago?

Randy Orton isn't in attendance tonight... so that means his attack later in the show is supposed to be a secret, yes?

Apparenty Christian isn't interested in talking to the fans anymore... but he'll still show up week after week and graba microphone.

Any chance that Christian realizes that the live crowd who cheered loud enough to convince Teddy Long to give Randy Orton the title shot five nights after EXTREME RULES isn't actually the same crowd which is in attendance in the arena Smackdown hails from this week? Maybe he thinks Teddy Long setup some super special American Idol style call-in service where the home viewers, many of whom are probably in attendance in that arena, to let people vote?

That would actually be interesting.

Six Man Tag Match - The Corre vs The Uso Brothers and Ezekiel Jackson

WWE continually lets The Corre get the upperhand over Wade Barrett... and now they team him up with a pair of guys who haven't won a match on RAW or Smackdown in months? Zeke can't be too optimistic about his odds.

Since Wade Barrett walked out on Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater last week, what are the odds they might walk out on him tonight?

So apparently it's hard to tell apart the Usos? That's step one in being a Samoan tag team. Now all they need to do is establish that attacking their head doesn't do damage, and then they can be legit!

Booker T says watching this match reminds him of teaming up with HIS brother back in the day, "knowing every move that's going to happen before it happens"... Thanks for pulling back the kayfabe curtain, Book'. We don't need to be reminded about how scripted things can get.

Commercial time, and seriously, do kids discriminate against pizza with different toppings? Don't they realize that if they just pull the topings off, it turns into their favorite CHEESE pizza?

If that mention of a commercial made you hungry, then you might not want to dive into the snack food portal on GuysNation.

Wait, Michael Cole likes Wade Barrett? A HEEL?! Who would've guessed?!

Monday Night RAW

This match yet again makes me wonder why WWE doesn't ever have elimination style matches. Are they afraid of telling an intriguing story? It can't be because they're afraid of making one of their competitors look subpar. Justin Gabriel has tons of talent, and he hasn't been able to show that talent for months.

Outcome - Ezekiel Jackson helps the Usos get their first win in months as Gabriel taps out to the Torture Rack

Yet again, Wade Barrett walks out on Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel. Anyone else hoping Gabriel goes A-R'y on Wade Barrett?

So Teddy Long bets on the horses, huh? Dressing the way he does, I'm guessing he's got talent at figuring out who's going to win / place / show.

Sheamus wants a match with Christian tonight, and apparently Teddy Long can't make that happen, but he can book a No Disqualification match between Sheamus and the current World Champion Randy Orton? Is anyone else shaking their head? Teddy Long has the power to make a championship match 5 days after a pay per view, but he can't book one random match on Smackdown with no title implications?

Anyone else think Justin Gabriel could be taken a little more seriously if he didn't stare off into the distance like he's reading a cue card after each line of dialogue?

The Corre is apparently over, and I think that should make Santino and "APPLE" very happy... I expect there to be a party!

Match - Jinder Mahal vs GuysNation Favorite Trent Barreta

Did anyone else catch the cheers from the crowd right after Barreta was announced? Proof positive that the internet does work! Trent, no need to thank GuysNation for your new fans... just keep doing your thing!

What, you don't think Virginia fans are affected by what GuysNation has to say? This is our state, 30 years and running!

Anyone else thinking that Khali didn't really need to climb the steel steps to intimidate Trent Barreta on the top rope? He could've just walked over a bit closer... he still could've reached!

Outcome - Jinder Mahal gets the win by pinfall after slamming @TrentyLocks

Following the match, The Great Khali puts the vice grip onto Trent's head, trying to make a mess on the ring mat to match Trent's ring attire

Backstage, Tamina and Rosa Mendes show that they're abnormally large women and Rookie AJ is a small woman. They try to intimidate her. Natty Neidhart shows up to give her some backup. They still have to convince the fans that they can combine for an entertaining match.

Match - Tamina vs AJ

So Rookie AJ is a comic book & video game nerd? Is that how they're trying to sell us on underdogs these days? Next thing you know, AJ is going to be dating Daniel Bryan.

Outcome - AJ picks up the win by reversing out of a Samoan Drop position into a pinfall while Tamina is distracted as she mocks Natalya

Backstage, not only is Randy Orton in attendance, but he got his belt back? WWE Creative fails at what would've been an interesting storyline element. Maybe they're worried that preppy white boys would take Christian's lead and start stealing things from huge dudes covered in tattoos.

Randy Orton comes to the ring and calls out Christian... who proceeds to show up on the Titan Tron, live from outside the arena.. and he loves the polls almost as much as GuysNation... but apparently he doesn't care that the live audience he surveys actually want to see him show up in person to get killed by Orton via RKO or punt to the head. Instead, they just talk smack back and forth through cameras... all the while Christian is about 20 feet away from a bus that looks like the one Randy Orton travels in.

Christian ends the big promo... by driving away. Randy Orton ends the big promo... by raising the belt.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase are coming to grips with what their team dynamic is going to be. What a surprise, they both want to be the leader of the team... and Cody makes his argument by admitting to being insane... but he also says that he's free to do whatever he wants.

Cody should've just said "I've won a match in the last year. You?"

Just when I thought there was going to be a tag match...

Match - Sin Cara vs Ted DiBiase

Anyone else guessing Sin Cara wins this match and Ted DiBiase decides that this is the bottom of the barrell and turns desperate?

For a guy who is super quick and has tons of athletic talent and no charisma, does Sin Cara seem average (or below average) to anyone else?

Outcome - Cody Rhodes gets involved and Sin Cara wins by disqualification

Daniel Bryan shows up to save Sin Cara from certain dismantling, and before there's a big scuffle, Teddy Long shows up and makes an official contest

Tag Match - Daniel Bryan & Sin Cara vs Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes

Couldn't they  just have booked this match in the first place?

According to Booker T, both Ted DiBiase and Sin Cara both have all the tools. So why is it that neither of them is able to move out of the mid-card? Why is it that Cody Rhodes seems so much better than both of them? And why can't the announcers say something like "That Ted DiBiase, he's got most of the tools, but he's still lacking that last piece to put everything together to be legendary like his dad"?

Outcome - Daniel Bryan scores the win by submission with the LaBell Lock

So Johnny Curtis has a little bit of charisma and is a little humorous, and because he's on Smackdown they're giving him some segments to help promote himself? Zack Ryder, you need to make the switch...

Anyone else getting tired of seeing the fake Presidential Press Conferences to hype up Capitol Punishment? The least they could've done would be to show one that isn't all RAW-themed, since this is Smackdown, after all.

No DQ Match - Randy Orton vs Sheamus

If Christian gets involved in this match, which would be legal since it's a No Disqualification match, couldn't they make the pay per view match a triple threat title match?

So Christian finally shows up... only to have Randy Orton block the attempt at the Killswitch? At least they didn't let Orton hit the RKO on him...

When Randy Orton was up in the Celtic Cross on Sheamus' shoulders, was anyone else thinking "gee, I wonder how Randy Orton is going to turn this around o hit an RKO"?

Christian gets into the ring and knocks out Randy Orton with another shot from the championship belt immediately following the RKO, then lets Sheamus pick up the win.

Outcome - Sheamus wins by pinfall

Following the match, Christian gets in Orton's face and shines up the championship belt... and I'm guessing he doesn't take it home with him again this week, either.

Keep checking back throughout the night as I continually update the recap, and the GuysNation version of this article will have the infamous polls before the evening is over!
