Velvet Sky Needs to Concentrate on a Title Run, Not ODB

The continued feud between Velvet Sky and ODB is great theater for IMPACT Wrestling, but it is taking away from Sky and her pursuit of TNA Knockouts gold.

Last night on IMPACT, we saw women’s action that centered on the Knockout’s title, but Sky was nowhere in the middle of it.

What are the writers thinking?

Sky should be the next in line to challenge Mickie James for the title, but the new story line within the organization is centered on Angelina Love and her drugged persona versus the hardcore country image of James for the title at Slammiversary.

Sky is the only major player in the Knockouts Division that is not fighting for a title shot, and while ODB’s insistence of being in the middle of the show and a feud with Sky is the most compelling story line right now on television, it is still not getting Sky to the pinnacle where she needs to be.

A month ago, Sky was embattled with Winter for the friendship of Rayne, but that has changed with the recent changes in title contention and the fact that Madison Rayne lost the title to Mickie James, thus giving Terra her “freedom” from any obligations she had to the former champion.

As a former three-time title holder, Sky should be used more as a contender. And the idea of faces challenging each other is not a bad idea. The woman in this division work harder than the men, and Sky’s game has been taken up a notch since she has been feuding with Rayne, Winter and now ODB.

Hopefully after Slammiversary, there will be some changes within the ranks of the women, and if Love beats James, which I think will happen, this opens the door for a feud with Sky. But ODB becomes the X-Factor in the division.

Since she is “technically” not a member of the brand as reported last night, then where does she stand and how will officials work to keep her in the loop of knockouts who are title contenders?

The fans like the villain and like the idea of a bigger and stronger ODB fighting the smaller, lither Sky.

But until Slammiversary, these questions will remain unanswered. And once they are answered, a whole new set of rules will be written.
