WWE/TNA: 10 Wrestlers I Would Love See Return to Television to Wrestle
Remember those guys in the TNA X-Division who have slightly disappeared over the years or the great mid-carders WWE got rid off due to their 'spring cleaning' or 'We haven't nothing creative for you.'
Well, If you don't - I do.
This slideshow will consist of five ex-TNA wrestlers and five ex-WWE wrestlers, who I would want to see back on my television screens.
Some may disagree, some will agree; If you want to discuss it, leave a comment.
And onto the slideshow!
TNA: Petey Williams
1 of 12
If you don't know this guy, search on YouTube - The Canadian Destroyer.
The Canadian Destroyer (also his nickname) is a flip pile-driver, and something for all you Randy Orton 'RKO' lovers, this move actually looks like it hurts....
When did he leave?
He left TNA Wrestling during February 2009; which his last match included the reinventing of 'team Canada' with Eric Young against Beer Money with the stipulation that the loser must leave TNA. Petey lost, hence his leaving of TNA. (Team Canada formed the likes of Eric Young and Robert Roode in the earlier days of the company.)
Whats he been up to since?
Since his TNA departure, I had hoped WWE could have signed him due to the signings of Kaval/Low Ki, Tyson Kidd and Evan Bourne since they too are smaller wrestlers which WWE don't like to sign often.
Williams has done a few gigs in Ring Of Honor and recently been involved with Lucha Libre: USA which has talents such as former WWE stars Carlito and Gregory Helms.
Also, since his departure - I haven't heard much of his whereabouts on pro wrestling sites and Bleacher Report.
I hope TNA/ Impact Wrestling can have him appear at the upcoming Destination X pay-per-view, because this guy reminds me of the days when I used to absolutely love TNA.
TNA: Sonjay Dutt
2 of 12Sonjay Dutt is mostly remembered with his feud with another ex-TNA star, Jay Lethal.
Dutt's last major feud in TNA was with Jay Lethal in which they were fighting for the love of SoCal Val - the feud ended with SoCal Val turning on Jay Lethal and Dutt winning the 'ladder of love' match.
When did he leave?
He left in February 2009 due to TNA and himself unable to agree on contract arrangements.
What's he been up to since?
Sonjay Dutt was challenging at the time ROH World Champion Roderick Strong and current ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards throughout December 2010.
In 2011, he is signed onto be a part of newly founded Urban Wrestling Federation.
Watch the video above - It features his awesome wrestling moves!
TNA: Homicide
3 of 12
If anyone knows/remembers the Latin American Xchange (LAX) they would most likely say Impact Wrestling should fire Anarquia and re-hire Homicide because the 'Mexican American' stable is crap.
The only thing it has other LAX is the fact it has Sarita and Rosita (Damn - I love those two) - Impact Wrestling are trying to remake this tag team which won Wrestling Observers 2006 Tag Team of the Year and Gimmick of the Year.
When did he leave?
Aug. 19, 2010. Is the date and it is reportedly rumored he had been wanting to leave TNA for months.
What's he been up to since?
He returned to Ring Of Honor in September and LAX reformed for one night in ROH to take on the Kings of Wrestling.
Homicide has had a decent stint in Dragon Gate USA and was recently a part of the New Japan Pro Wrestling invasion in the states, he teamed with Low Ki against multiple wrestlers, two notable ones are Prince Devitt and Jushin Liger.
If you remember the LAX faction, you really must be pis*ed at TNA for hiring Anarquia and forming the poor man's version of LAX. (Sarita and Rosita can stay... )
TNA: Voodoo Kin Mafia/ New Age Outlaws
4 of 12
Voodoo Kin Mafia (VKM - Not Vince McMahon)/ New Age Outlaws are one of the most loved teams in the wrestling business and at one time were the third most popular merchandise seller in the attitude era behind The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
However even with that great statistic, WWE wouldn't hire them back in a hurry due to their 'shoot' interviews detailing their hatred of Triple H.
The New Age Outlaws would be a great addition to the Tag team scene in the WWE and would be like Kharma igniting their divisions.
Despite such dreams, I doubt it will happen thus this slide is under the TNA banner and not WWE.
TNA's once striving Tag Team division has been halted as of late with the split/make up of Ink Inc. and the injury of both Machine Guns - The New Age Outlaws or Voodoo Kin Mafia as they were last known in TNA as would be a good addition.
When did they leave?
Kipp James departed TNA in December 2009 after angles with The Beautiful People and being Mick Foley's 'handyman'.
Road Dogg/ B.G James departed earlier than his partner in crime being released in September 2009.
What they been up to since?
Kipp James has wrestled in Varsity Pro Wrestling, a promotion in the UK (which I've been interested in training at) in 2010 whereas in 2011, he began wrestling for WFX in Canada.
Road Dogg/ B.G James on a recent interview has stated he is sober (never knew he had drinking problems) which is good and has even appeared on WWE television via the WWE Hall of Fame 2011 inducting his father 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong.
He too has wrestled in the UK along with Kevin Nash in a 1 Pro Wrestling event challenging for the promotion's tag titles.
I know technically these are two wrestlers but I counted them as one due to being a team.
TNA: Jack Evans
5 of 12If you haven't heard of this guy, you must watch the video above.
He goes by the name of Jack Evans, and was once in TNA around 2004; sadly that was just before I entered the world of TNA Wrestling as I began to watch around 2005 or 2006.
He apparently was in an angle with Team Canada.
When did he leave?
According to Wikipedia, Jack Evans joined and left TNA in 2004.
What's he been up to since?
Since his departure from TNA, He has wrestled with Ring Of Honor, Dragon Gate (Japan), however, from 2008 onwards, he has been down in the Mexican promotion AAA wrestling the likes of Christopher Daniels, Carlito, Teddy Hart and current FCW star Alex Koslov.
I wish WWE would sign him, but he probably is too 'dangerous' for them on the other hand, I would love to see him mix it up in TNA's X-Division scene.
WWE: Carlito
6 of 12
My all time favorite mid-card act is none other than Carlito (With Christian main eventing ppv's - he is off the list).
Shelton Benjamin, Robert Roode, John Morrison and a few others come close also, however unlike John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin, I viewed Carlito as few with everything needed to succeed at main event level (sadly John/Shelton lack mic skills, however are sometimes decent).
Carlito and Christian are two guys, I wanted WWE to push to main event stardom...
Christian is getting his chance (Yay) but Carlito was released (nay)....
When did he leave?
I Reported Carlito departing WWE last year on Bleacher Report. WWE released Carlito on May 21, 2010, something he had been wanting for years, due to Carlito refusing to attend a rehab center due to WWE feeling he was addicted to painkillers, Carlito although has explained multiple times, he feels he isn't addicted and has a medical reason for them.
What's he been up to since?
Carlito was in a prime position unlike the majority of WWE Superstars, Carlito had a leading national wrestling promotion waiting for his services, no not TNA but in fact World Wrestling Council (WWC), which is owned by Carlito's father; the legendary Carlos Colon in Puerto Rico.
Carlito defeated Shelton Benjamin to win the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship, among other victories.
Carlito has also been wrestling in AAA (Mexico) this year.
I hope he gets another shot at WWE; but if he doesn't want to, at least he has multiple choices.
WWE: Shelton Benjamin
7 of 12
Money in a Bank pay-per-view was lackluster to me because I can't envision a MITB match without Shelton Benjamin. This guy surely needs a WWE DVD because his matches are phenomenal.
When did he leave?
Shelton was released by WWE in April 2010 along with Mickie James and Katie Lea Burchill (Winter).
What's he been up to since?
Shelton Benjamin wrestled in Carlito's father's promotion in Puerto Rico; World Wrestling Council (WWC) winning the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship, which has been held by such legends as Dory Funk, Razor Ramon, Scott Steiner and WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher!
Back in the States, Benjamin has been wrestling with Ring Of Honor, reforming with Charlie Haas despite a rumor of Kurt Angle lobbying TNA management to sign the duo.
WWE: JBL
8 of 12
Like him or hate him, JBL is somewhat needed in WWE.
WWE hasn't many top tier level guys left, both Triple H and The Undertaker are to retire in the near future, Chris Jericho is on a break, Batista has opened up his MMA gym and Rey Mysterio has his time running out also.
I don't know how JBL is in physical shape, but with the lack of depth in WWE's main event roster, JBL would be a welcomed edition.
When did he leave?
Wrestlemania 25 in 2009. He had a 21-second match at Wrestlemania with Rey Mysterio which led him to say 'I quit' post match.
What's he been up to since?
He was a partner in a new MMA promotion called Viper Fight League; however, the promotion ended in 2010.
He also invested into a drink company which is promoted via his twitter account.
WWE: Mick Foley
9 of 12
Mick Foley can still put on great matches, as seen by his late 2010 match on TNA Impact with Ric Flair.
Mick Foley is the hottest free agent on the market, since his departure from Impact Wrestling and with the grand welcome returns of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin...another Attitude era representative would only make WWE more old school.
If he did return to WWE, he could help build the Wrestlemania 28 main event match of John Cena Vs. The Rock as he has connections with the Rock through the Rock and Sock connection and could help the feud as The Rock isn't on hand every week.
When did he leave?
My memory with pro wrestling promos isn't that good, but one I remember is Mick Foley being attack by Edge on Smackdown during an Edge promo.
Mick Foley was at the time a commentator for the Smackdown brand but subsequently departed WWE with Edge attacking him.
What's he been up to since?
As most know, he has had a successful stint in TNA holding the TNA World Championship along with the TNA Legends/Global/Television title.
He has also been supporting a charity by the name of RAINN, which he has help promote though his twitter @realMickFoley - He sells a ton of his wrestling stuff for the charity though his Ebay account which is seen on his twitter.
WWE: Chris Jericho
10 of 12
I'm really tired of writing this article, but unlike others who say 'Need I say anything more' or something along those lines - I will continue to write in proper conduct.
Chris Jericho is my all time Favorite wrestler which is closely followed by Christian then Edge.
Besides my 'markism' for Y2J, WWE needs his expertise - He can help the young guns, he can feud with the top guys, he can wrestle anyone.
Chris Jericho has the exceptional ability like Christian and Rey Mysterio to work with practically anyone and put on above great matches, also like Rey Mysterio and somewhat CM Punk - Y2J can also rise and drop ranks as quick as possible without losing much steam.
When did he leave?
Since his 'second coming' in 2007 - many have dubbed his recent tenure in the company as his best work yet and has also stated that himself too.
Jericho left WWE in September 2010, when Randy Orton punted him in order to get Jericho written out.
What's he been up to since?
Jericho mystically recovered from the Viper's punt to the head and danced on Dancing with the Stars - since being fifth eliminated - Jericho has been touring the world with his rock group Fozzy.
WWE needs saving, and the 'third coming' of Y2J must happen.
