Much-Anticipated "Countdown to UFC 131" Debuts Tonight on Spike TV at 6:30 PM

Akvar MindonesJun 8, 2011

The much-anticipated debut of "Countdown to UFC 131" hits Spike TV tonight at the odd time of 6:30 p.,m.  ET/PT.

The show will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the main event, as heavyweights Shane Carwin and Junior Dos Santos will battle for the right to fight Cain Velasquez for the UFC Undisputed Heavyweight Championship this fall.

A lot of Carwin's part was produced by Paul Heyman, who flew to Denver to shoot Carwin on a moment's notice after Heyman's original subject, Brock Lesnar was forced to pull out of UFC 131 when his diverticulitis flared up again.

Already, some of Carwin's soundbites have made the rounds as real selling points for the pay per view event, which will also be carried online and on Xbox, as UFC President Dana White announced at E3 this week.

"I'm gonna knock out Junior Dos Santos, and I think he knows it," Carwin stated in one of the clips.

He also coldly states, "I like Junior Dos Santos, but I'm going to knock him out, and I'm not going to have remorse about it."

In a simple but tremendously effective clip, Carwin says "people who pay to see Shane Carwin fight are really going to get their money's worth on this one!"

The soundbites seen from Carwin's interviews so far have seen him display far more personality than at any other time in his career. A noticeable change for the better.

Replays of "Countdown to UFC 131" air on Spike TV on June 10 at 12 a.m. ET/PT and June 11 at 6 p.m. ET.

Additionally, Versus broadcasts "Countdown to UFC 131" Thursday, June 9, at 2 a.m. ET and 7 p.m. ET.

"Countdown to UFC 131"  is also expected to focus on other high-profile matchups on the card.  UFC 131 takes place June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The pay-per-view event features a heavyweight tilt between top contenders Dos Santos and Carwin.
