Floyd Mayweather vs. Ortiz in September, Pacquiao Would Have Stopped Mosley

King JJun 7, 2011

So fight fans the news broke this morning via Floyd Mayweather's Twitter that he will indeed be fighting WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17.

Ever since, the announcement many have been weighing in on their opinion of this fight. I think all personal feelings aside, it is a decent matchup style-wise and Ortiz did win the WBC belt in an impressive fight of the year worthy performance against Berto.

Ortiz is going back to his vicious ways of fighting more and more aggressively with constant pressure which will play well into Floyd's master defense technical style where he will most likely easily counter all night causing himself to open up and throw more than usual.

Floyd must have bought a new luxury pimped out duster to dust the WBC belt that he plans on easily winning by a comfortable decision.

The real question of this fight is will Ortiz agree and be subjected to Mayweather's full random Olympic style testing?

So far a venue is not confirmed but it seems Las Vegas is the most likely location seeing that Jerry Jones' fun house (Dallas Cowboy Stadium) seems to be already booked for an event that day.

Here is the actual Tweet verbatim from Floyd Mayweather on his Twitter: "My fans have been waiting long enough. Floyd Mayweather versus Victor Ortiz. Sept. 17, 2011 for the WBC World Championship."

Manny Pacquiao/Shane Mosley Fight Camp 360 Bonus Episode

So this weekend before the Froch/Johnson fight they aired the bonus episode of Pacquiao/Mosley Fight Camp 360. This episode was far more entertaining than the actual fight as we are invited into an excellent inside look behind the scenes hours before the fight to what was actually said ringside and inside the ring that night.

We saw Mosley actually did plead with his trainer Nazim to stop the fight for he could not move. The teaser preview stopped right there, and it was oh so powerful and dramatic. But when we saw the actual episode, we learn it was due to a blister on his foot. Now I don't know about you, but we probably would have felt more sympathetic for Mosley if it was something far more serious than just a blister.

We also see that Jamie Foxx was a big supporter of Mosley through out the night, and even when he was clearly losing every round bad Jamie still was seen ringside trying to convince himself that Mosley could still win. If I had to take a wild guess, I'd assume based on that footage that he may have placed a rather large size bet on Mosley that night?

We also learned that Pacquiao explains he has fallen in love with his wife, Jinkee, three times. I don't exactly know what that means, though did they hate each other twice then for that to happen.

We also see very bluntly and honestly Mosley's fine girlfriend cuss him out from ringside in Spanish. Is it just me or is Mosley such a nice guy that he tends to end up with abusive women who mistreat him?

Finally the most useful scenes that the boxing media and fans should think about is when Nazim stated several times that he figured out how to defeat Pacquiao that night, but Mosley just could not close in on it. He even went on to say that Mosley just showed the world how to beat Pacquiao.

What do you guys think about that?

Carl Froch Defeats Glen Johnson to Face Andre Ward For All the Marbles

Saturday we finally saw what most of us envisioned, and that was Froch defeating Johnson by decision and moving onto face Ward for the final championship fight.

Johnson was not his usual in-your-face constant pressure self, but he was a more reserved fighter who may have been affected by the lower weight and older age. But besides a few key moments, he looked like he may be back into journey man land once again should he keep on fighting.

Ward was on hand doing commentary and interviews wearing a suit looking very political. Gus Johnson even joked about him looking as if he is running for office in Oakland. This may very well be in Ward's future for he has the complete package: squeaky clean image, he has the religious thing going for him, the All American hero image with the gold medal from the Olympics and he speaks like a politician in front of cameras.

Add to that a big win in the Super Six Classic tournament, and it's almost a done deal should he bring that trophy to the USA.

I just hope with this excruciatingly long tournament where Showtime realized they made some errors, that they as well as their much larger sister network CBS properly promote this final championship fight the right way even if it is just commercials and promos.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Finally Gets a World Title

Usually when you have fought 40 times and you are still undefeated, that means you probably have captured not only one world title but a few. This is not the case for Chavez Jr. as he has been clearly properly protected, padded and packaged to be made the most money off of as his true drawing ability does sell tickets mostly due to his father's legendary status of course.

I, like many, knew that as long as Jr. was not sleeping on the canvas that no matter what he would be indeed awarded his very own world title belt that night. Was it such a bad gift decision no definitely not horribly bad.

When asked by Max Kellerman about possibly facing his mandatory opponent former middleweight champion and top pound-for-pound beast Sergio Martinez the look in his face said it all: that fear was definitely on his mind when just the thought of facing Martinez next entered it.

Jr. took the political way out and said if Bob Arum pays him the right money, then he will fight Martinez next. This triggered many on the fight forums and Twitter to have a field day of how bad a beating Martinez would administer to him and how he was clearly scared at just the thought of that fight.

Abner Mares vs Joseph Agbeko Now on Aug. 13

One of the biggest fights at bantamweight is now rescheduled for Aug. 13. As we all know, this fight was postponed due to Agbeko's injuries. However, he is claiming that he is now stronger than ever before for some reason?

I was told by Abner's manager that he will be training in his first hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico until the 26th of June, when he will then resume training in LA.

I tried my best to squeeze a potential venue or at least location for this fight, but he is claiming he does not know anything still.

All I will say is this, with such a big meaningful fight, please guys do not have this fight in some random location such as Tacoma's Emerald Queen Casino like last time.

I personally nominate Honda Center in Anaheim. Canelo showed us that a fast rising Mexican star can sell out and bring in the large local Latino communities to the Honda Center. UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez proved this as well as he beat down Brock Lesnar for the title at Honda Center.
