Kobe Bryant Is Obama, of Course!
As Heidi Klum would say, “One day you’re in and the next you’re out!” Fashion is an exquisite metaphor for Los Angeles and their ever-changing roster of leading men. First was the exodus of Derek Fisher, then Shaquille O’Neal, who’s next?
Will it be Kobe Bryant? Derek Fisher ultimately came back, as did the newly revamped Hollywood Palladium. But is Kobe Bryant to be considered a staple of L.A., or could he soon be leaving the City of Angels?
With an Olympic Gold Medal around his neck and championship rings galore, Kobe has much more to explore. Might the avenue of one of L.A.’s most loved players be jumping ship to play overseas? In recent weeks, we’ve seen the team lead not by Kobe but by Lamar Odom, huh? A collective scratching of heads! Oh my blog, why?
Why would he leave such a stellar sitch? Los Angeles provides such a safe haven for the once-scrutinized athlete, but even Shaq found himself another NBA home. Stating to reporters during a USA Basketball Press Conference that he’d take $50 million a year to play in Italy sounds pretty forward to me!
Although we all admit, Odom’s replacement at point didn’t go over so well! Coach Phil Jackson said he wasn’t even playing basketball and may have been playing some other sport while on the court in early October.
Just as fashion trends change by the season, maybe Kobe has greener pastures to field.
With a waning economy and millions tempting him from a place he knows oh so well, who wouldn’t gravitate toward the green? I can hear what he’ll be listening to on his iPod on the way to games...“I want to lay you down on a bed of...Euros,” the new remix by Bon Jovi.
Let’s play it out as if it were the 2008 presidential election. Kobe is Obama! Of course! The Lakers are McCain! Obama wants change! McCain is the underdog! Ah, now we see! McCain, or dare I say, the Lakers, will lose in this model.
If this were an election, Obama or Italy would win! Not the fans of L.A. NBA players have a certain luxury during our economic crisis. They get paid for play. Hmm…sounds a bit like the old radio industry payola system.
What would you do if tempted? How do we keep him? Gosh, it’s like a bad relationship where the girl is trying to do everything to keep a man!
Don’t they say, if you let him go and he comes back then it was meant to be? Screw that! We need to win another championship and soon! Toss a few more bucks his way and let’s play the game L.A.!
Okay, maybe I got ahead of myself. In our “economic crisis” we probably shouldn’t give more money to players who already have money.
Maybe we can throw in a sweet deal, like free dinners at Il Fornaio so he believes he’s getting a true authentic Italian experience! Just a thought! Buon Appetito!
