2011 NFL Free Agency: 5 Teams Who Could Be Interested in Plaxico Burress
Plaxico Burress doesn't carry the notoriety Michael Vick did when he came out of prison. He shot himself in the leg at a night club; he didn't kill and torture dogs. Vick got a second chance, so it seems inevitable that Plax will as well.
Burress is 33 years old. He turns 34 next season. Even so, there is going to be a market for the 6'5" red-zone nightmare.
There are plenty of teams in need of a huge possession receiver. He's going to need to get re-acclimated to playing football, but Vick proves that it is possible to stay in shape while incarcerated.
So who will give Plax a shot? Five teams seem like they could be the frontrunners in the pursuit of Burress.
5. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have to make this list, because they have experienced success by signing a player fresh out of prison. They are also the least likely team on this list to sign him, because they need him the least.
The Eagles have the best deep threat in the league in DeSean Jackson. Jeremy Maclin is a great receiver, but they could use one more weapon, especially when they get close.
The Eagles are unorthodox in their offensive scheme. Another weapon for Vick to get the ball to would be ideal.
4. New York Jets

If Santonio Holmes bails on the Jets, they are going to need to bring in someone else. The Jets aren't afraid to go out and bring in controversial football players that they think could help their football team.
They addressed defense in the draft, so keying on the offensive side of the ball during free agency may take precedence.
Plax excelled in a run-first offense in New York. He was a great receiver for a smash mouth football team. He's perfect for the jump ball and could fit in perfectly with the Jets.
3. Washington Redskins

Former NFL stud on the market? The Redskins have to be involved in the discussion. The best part is, they probably won't need to shower Burress in money to bring him into town.
The Redskins have Santana Moss as their deep threat. Burress could be the guy to complement him on the other side.
The QB situation is still unsettled, and Ryan Torrain can't carry the entire offense. The more weapons on the field, the better the Redskins are going to be next season.
2. Tennessee Titans
4 of 5
The Titans are falling apart. Vince Young and Jeff Fisher were both ousted, and the structure of the organization has been shaken.
Kenny Britt is having serious issues avoiding legal troubles. The Randy Moss experiment tanked, and the Titans need the attention to shift away from Chris Johnson, just a bit.
Burress stretches the field horizontally, and gives Jake Locker a seasoned target to get the ball to. They are rebuilding, and gambling is part of the early stages of the rebuilding process.
1. St. Louis Rams
5 of 5
The Rams were in desperate need of a QB, and passed on Vick with no viable option at the position at the time. The difference here is that P.E.T.A. isn't going to be staked outside of team facilities if the Rams bring in Burress.
He's not a PR nightmare. Burress was instrumental in the development of Eli Manning. Having a target that big and that athletic as a safety net would be ideal for Bradford.
Burress is the type of receiver who ages well, as his speed isn't his best attribute. The Rams aren't going to get many years out of him, but he helps fill a void they weren't in a position to address in the draft. Bradford needs help, and Burress would be his No. 1 target if he came to St. Louis.
