10 MMA Fighters with the Best Shorts

The criteria I used for these rankings are based on 3 things:

1. How unique/recognizable are the fighter's shorts?

If you see the shorts, you know who's wearing them.

2. Have they been wearing them consistently for an extended period of time?

Have they been wearing the same colored or themed shorts for many years?

3. How visually appealing the are the shorts?

This is somewhat at my personal digression, but I will try to be as unbiased as possible.

Dishonorable Mentions

Seriously it looks like hes wearing a diaper.

Any fighter wearing fight briefs. They just look awkward in MMA.

Some examples include Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Jeff Monson, and Carlos Newton.

Honorable Mentions

Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm

Some fighters with good shorts but just outside the top 10 include:

Lyle "Fancy Pants Beerbohm - Way out there shorts, just a little too way out there for my tastes.

Kazushi Sakuraba - Throughout his career, he has worn either pink or orange Vale Tudo. It is a decent look but just not top 10 worthy.

10. Forrest Griffin

While Forrest Griffin is a very exciting fighter, his tan with black on the side shorts aren't the most exciting out there. Nonetheless, he has stuck with this look for quite some time and he is the only notable fighter to wear this color combination.

9. Maurício “Shogun” Rua

From the Pride ring to the UFC cage, Shogun’s attire through the years has constantly been white Vale Tudo shorts. While not the most exciting attire, it is a nice look none the less.

8. Rich “Ace” Franklin

Pink and brown may not sound like a normal color combination, but that's what led Rich Franklin to make them his fight colors. He chose the halved pink and brown shorts to be his signature look because no one else wears anything like it.

7. Shinya Aoki

When Shinya Aoki steps into the ring, you never know exactly what he’s going to be wearing. However, you know that chances are his shorts and/or tights will be brightly colored and unique.

6. BJ “The Prodigy” Penn

BJ Penn is a Brazilian Jujitsu black belt, and his shorts will let you know that. His white shorts with a sublimated black belt on it has been his signature look for the past few years.

5. Anderson “The Spider” Silva

Anderson Silva has been wearing yellow and black Vale Tudo shorts for a very long time. They are a nice combination of colors that he has made his own.

4. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s black with woodland camouflage trimmed shorts are a nice mix of subtlety and uniqueness. It is a nice look that he has been wearing for most of his career.

3. Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz

When Tito Ortiz steps into the cage, you know that you can count on him wearing some variety of his famous flame shorts. Black with orange flames is the most common style he wears and the one he is best known for.

2. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović is a member of the Croatian Parliament, and his unique white and red checkerboard shorts are based on the Croatian flag and coat of arms. This look is classy and simple.

1. Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell

Chuck Liddell has an appearance all his own. When he steps into the octagon you can bet he will have his Mohawk and his signature blue icicled shorts. Chuck Liddell has been wearing his signature shorts for almost his whole career, and it is a great combination of simplicity, not to mention a distinctive design.

The Octagon Girls.
