UFC 137 Fight Card: Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz Is On
Half of MMA fans believe UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, if standing across the cage from Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, will have no problem proving that despite Diaz's Strikeforce success, he still cannot hold a candle to "Rush" in the heat of battle, and all under the belief that GSP is just too good for even Diaz to handle.
The other half of MMA fans have been vocal about Diaz's absence from the top three to top five of Welterweights and pound-for-pound fighters, and they have openly said point-blank that nothing GSP does in a fight against Diaz will faze "The Fighting Pride of Stockton, California".
That other half claims that GSP would get demolished by Diaz in the same way that anti-Diaz fans believed KJ Noons, Marius Zaramskis, Evangelista Santos and Paul Daley were all supposed to demolish Diaz.
Well, Dana White tweeted it himself:
"You guys wanted it, you guys said that this fight must happen, and some of you said that the fight should go down before St-Pierre got comfy on fighting Anderson Silva—knowing full well that Nick Diaz could prevail against all odds as he's done in the past."
Well MMA fans, you got it.
You guys are going to get the collision between Greg Jackson's most accomplished fighter and the arguable best pound-for-pound fighter in Mixed Martial Arts, and the Cesar Gracie-trained half-man-half-machine that trains out of Lodi and puts on for Stockton.
During the seconds that I was typing this breaking news, with further information about the likely UFC 137 headliner, specifically that the UFC 137 fight card will emanate from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 29th.
The hurdles have been cleared, the headaches have been healed, and not to rehash cliches, but this time it's gospel that the stakes have never before and may never again be higher for a fight in Las Vegas, the home of the prize fights, than they are going to be on October 29th.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is far from a dream.
This is official a beautiful reality.
