Fantasy Football's Week Eight Waiver Wire pickups are here! The wire picks are players who are or were still available in most leagues this week. Depending on how your waiver wire/free-agent pool works, players may not clear waivers until later this week. 

Instead, these players should be monitored or stashed away on your bench for bye weeks’ use, a future starting-spot consideration, or played in a bye-week emergency.

QUARTERBACKS

Matt Ryan - With a tough matchup at the Eagles, this is not necessarily the week to start him. The Atlanta rookie is improving though and has thrown for almost 500 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games against the Bears and Packers. Available in 42 percent of ESPN leagues, he is worth a look.

Matt Cassel - He went off against a banged up Denver squad on Monday night and could continue his hot streak against the Rams at home. He only threw for 185 yards but he did not need to throw more. The Patriots' QB is also available in 42 percent of ESPN leagues.

Chad Pennington - I am leaving him on my list for a third straight week. At home this week against Buffalo, Pennington is still available in almost 50 percent of ESPN leagues. With Cutler, Rodgers, and Orton on bye week. and Romo down, he could be a decent spot start. He has gone over 800 yards and four touchdowns total in his last three games and only turned the ball over three times.
