Kansas City Royals Prospect Watch: Mike Montgomery
After left-handed starter Danny Duffy was promoted last Wednesday, many were surprised that he was called up before his teammate, Mike Montgomery
Montgomery was taken in the first round of the '08 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals, and has been dominant since his stint in rookie-league later that year.
He was a non-roster invitee to the Royals' spring training in '11, and nearly made the team with a 1.00 ERA in nine innings of work. Monty was eventually demoted to Triple-A Omaha, and has been there since the start of the regular season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Here are his updated stats for the Storm Chasers as of 5/24:
G: 9
GS: 9
W: 2
L: 1
ERA: 4.01
IP: 49.1
BB: 27
K: 40
WHIP: 1.46
Montgomery has not been as sharp as the Royals would have liked him to be so far this season, and this is why he is still stuck in the minors.
However, he is still just 21-years-old and could just be weeks away from realizing his potential and making the necessary improvements for him to get called up to the big league club.
I would expect him to pick it up in the next few weeks and get a call-up sometime around July 1, especially if the Royals are still in playoff contention at that time.
But for now, Montgomery will just have to wait for his turn in Omaha.
